After three years on the road, Álex Bergantiños has returned home and he’s doing it bigly; the Galician is one of the five players that have disputed all the possible minutes in la liga and even scored twice on Saturday.

Álex Bergantiños was 26 when he returned to La Coruña during this summer, he was no longer a kid, but neither had experience playing at Deportivo’s first team despite spending four years at Fabril. Lotina never trusted in him and had to play loaned at other clubs for three straight years.

Now things are quickly changing; he is one of the fixed player of new coach Oltra and hold a perfect mark of 540 minutes on the Segunda season, mark only at the reach of Aranzubia, Ayoze Diaz, Aythami Artiles and his partner at midfield, Jesús Vázquez.

The A Coruña-born man has made a solid job at the centre of the pitch, marking the rivals and stealing the ball to them, and on Saturday he showed a new facet as he scored two goals in a matter of four minutes. Those were his first goals wearing Depor’s shirt. Also, it was the first time in eleven years in which a centre midfielder scores twice at Depor’s first team. The last man to do it was Serbian Slaviša Jokanović during a 3-1 win at Sevilla FC (02 April, 2000).

Off course the player is pretty excited with all that’s happening, as he commented to reporters, ”I will never forget people shouting my name. It was my first goal at the Riazor and in the end I scored twice. I received a lot of messages and I’m glad to see people appreciating my job. I arrived during the summer hoping to gain a spot; I knew it was going to be complicated, though the circumstances are putting things easier, and lucky Jesús and I are having continuity, but this is too long; there are different moments and more team mates will have their chance.”

”It’s pleasant to wake up in this way; I’m pretty happy for the victory and for how things went out. The true is that I must also thank Valerón; with him everything is easier, because you know that he has eyes on the back and always search for the better option. We talked of improving at defense, with the aids, and for that reason we were closer to each other.” He added.
