REACTIONS AFTER THE VICTORY IN COPA

14 Oct 2011
Oltra was saying that it isn’t easy to achieve big scores and complained of the injury cases that are hitting the team, while the players were content with the pass to the last-32 round.

Coach José Luis Oltra was saying that the important thing is to pass the round, “We achieved the goal. It was a different game; I would have loved to achieve the points the other day, but can’t go back, and today the goal was to pass the round. We passed, because we dominated ever phase in the game, without shining, we did what we had to do. We started playing delayed on the pitch, perhaps gathered at midfield, but ended the first part attacking. In the second we scored again and sentenced the actions through a good counterattack. Their goal came in a free-kick in which you can’t do anything, but I don’t remember more opportunities for the rival. We had things under control and achieved the goal.”

Later he was upset as a journalist was saying that the fans suffered a lot at the end of the game, “Off course you have to suffer, but you tell me what opportunities did they have… did they locked us at our area? Did they do something? You suffer because it’s a narrow result, but not because they put you in trouble. I would like you to see the reality of the circumstances… but well you say that we suffered. I didn’t suffer from the stands, but if you suffered… I insist with respect, if you don’t want to suffer, then you can go and watch good movies at the cinema, because nobody is forced to come to the Riazor, and mainly as the team is right now.”

“The circumstances are to see everything as a whole. There are things I shouldn’t say, but the changes were conditioned… They made six changes in the list; I only made one, because don’t have anybody else as there are six injuries or players with their national teams. Those are the circumstances, to see the reality, to see where we are. You think we will win 7-0 just for been Deportivo, but the games are complicated, and not only playing at El Collao, but also here. To score five goals to Girona is difficult for me, and also four to Guadalajara. But it seems that this is the normal thing for Depor and the abnormal thing is to lose.” He complained.

Finally, Oltra talked of the two newest injury cases, “Today we had new muscular problems, it isn’t a serious case, these are just cramps, but I’m worried and it isn’t good. It isn’t an injury, but football. Is not normal what happens to Ze Castro? Off course. It isn’t normal to see this at minute 60, especially since he is an international player used to play in tense matches… why? I don’t know, but it happened. What happened to Rochela and Morel is normal, this last one is a player that didn’t have minutes during the pre-season, he was inactive, and it affects.”

David Rochela had a solid performance in the game and was relieved after the past defeat at El Collao, “We wanted to change the image from the past match, because it wasn’t the reality of the team. Their goal came in the only play in which they completed a shot on target. The good thing is that we had a lot of youngsters on the pitch, besides we were fine.”

Midfielder Jesús Vázquez was also having a positive reading of the match, “It was important to win after the last defeat, though it was for another competition. We passed the round and left behind that bad game, we are now focused on Saturday and a new win in liga, this in order to give a step forward at the standings. Right now we want to play against Nástic, to win and continue with the streak of victories.”

“It is true that it was though, but it’s normal. We will only have a few easy matches. We dominated in the first half, and we still missing more depth and to create scoring opportunities. In the second we were a little worse, they put more pressure, but they didn’t have the ball possession as we did in the first half. Luckily we scored the second goal, and later tried to end the match as soon as possible.” The ex-Recreativo man added.

Meanwhile, Diego Seoane was feeling relieving as recently he is having more chances, “It was a good game, and the pass to next round was never in danger. I feel fine as I’m having opportunities, I just feel like one more player at the team.”

Juan Dominguez was pretty happy as he scored a goal and as he played the full ninety minutes, “I am very happy for the ninety minutes, for the victory and also for the goal. The important thing is to add minutes and enter into the game little by little. It wasn’t a comfortable victory, but they neither had clear opportunities, just like the play of their goal.”

“It seems we are always suffering at the end of the matches. There’s always a goal that makes us suffer within the final minutes. We suffer, but habitually win the games. Besides, they didn’t have clear scoring chances. We had the initiative and also the clearest opportunities.” He added.

Juan Carlos was another player coming from Fabril that completed a solid presentation; he said that, “I am happy for how the game was, for been playing the full ninety minutes and also because the player coming out from the B squad are demonstrating that we can be there. Things were fine and the important thing is that you achieve the goals. The true is that Jesús Vázquez was taking care of us.”

President Augusto César Lendoiro admitted that the team suffered, but also that it deserved the final victory, “The game wasn’t brilliant, but we deserved to pass the round. We always end up suffering and pending on the final result, but today it was fair.”

At Alcoyano, coach David Porras was content for the effort done by his players, “My boys give everything until the end; we were close to achieve the result against a strong rival and we gave a fight, although you can’t be happy after you lose. Deportivo is a solid team with good arguments, but Alcoyano also has players with talent and quality. Everybody dies for this shirt.”
