Oltra is having four casualties for the meeting and once again there are a lot of questions about possible changes at the starting lineup; Almeria arrives to the Riazor without casualties, but also after losing the second place.

Coach José Luis Oltra is having four casualties for Friday’s match against UD Almeria (Riazor, 21h00 CET). The first two are the well-known injury cases of striker Riki (adductor) and left-back Claudio Morel (hip). The other is coming from the past weekend as central defender Aythami Artiles saw his fifth yellow card of the season during the defeat at Elche CF (2-3).

The four casualty was known on Tuesday, striker Xisco didn’t end Monday’s training session due to a muscular problem on his right leg, in the beginning it was reported that it wasn’t a serious case, but on Tuesday the club informed about the results of the most recent scans, which indicated that he sustained a grade-one muscle injury on his right thigh, which means that he will be sidelined for at least one week. The coaching staff is worried with the Majorcan striker as he is having constant muscular problems, reason why he has only played 67 minutes on the liga season.

Ahead of the match with Almeria, Oltra is forced to at least make one change as he needs to cover the gap left by Aythami, who until this point was one of the six players at the team that have taken part of all the 14 matches played on the Segunda season. However, the Canarian defender has been hardly criticized due to his performance and some fans and reporters are even seeing with good eyes his exit from the lineup.

The two alternatives to replace him are Portuguese Ze Castro and ex-Fabril David Rochela; on Monday Oltra was interviewed at Radio Cadena Ser and he gave the same choices to both players, ”Ze Castro has big options to play the game, but we must remember that we also have Rochela and he can also play the game.” He said.

The team rested on Tuesday and returns to practice today, but on Monday Oltra talked with his players for forty minutes before completing a training session at Abegondo, the coach explained at Radio Cadena Ser what they said, ”I wasn’t soft, but neither was the biggest row that I had here. If it was as simple as been yelling to the players… but there are many factors. We just analyzed the game and I told them what I liked and what I didn’t. Once again we weren’t fine at the beginning, though not so much as the scoresheet says. I just want to transmit confidence, because despite everything, we still only three points behind the direct promotion spots.”

The are other possible changes at the team, starting with Juan Carlos Valerón; El Flaco was a substitute against Elche CF as Oltra put Guardado on the playmaking function, now the Canarian might return into the starting team, which will leave one of the three wingers on the bench –Saul, Guardado or Salomão-

But a second winger could be benched, because it has been commented that Oltra is thinking in giving an opportunity to Bruno Gama; the Portuguese was one of the reasons why Depor improved in the second half against Elche and now he could have his first chance as a starter.

Finally, other doubt is if Depor’s coach will keep playing with Juan Dominguez at the starting formation, or if instead Andalusian Jesús Vázquez will return after been off within the last two matches. Dominguez didn’t shine at the Martinez Valero stadium, but the Galician centre midfielder gave the assist for the first goal and before he hit the post with a header. It’s one of the debates on vogue among the journalists in A Coruña.

At Almeria, the team coached by Lucas Alcaráz is arriving to the Riazor after a disappointing scoreless draw at home before FC Cartagena, result that pulled them down from the direct promotion spots for the first time in a month. Anyhow, the good news is that there are no casualties for the meeting with Depor, which are always good news in a squad only composed by nineteen players.

Centre midfielder Hernán Bernardello is returning from suspension and is eligible to play, while striker Leonardo Ulloa is fit to play after facing a back problem that almost left him out of the past meeting with FC Cartagena; the Argentine attacker is one of the top-scorers in the league as he has conquered nine goals in thirteen matches.
