For the first time in his short career, Juan Dominguez has played three straight games as a starter with the first team; the best is that he seems to be improving with the pass of time.

Juan Dominguez is finally earning a spot at the first team of Deportivo; the victory over UD Almeria meant his third straight appearance as a starter with the first team of Oltra, a personal record for him. He also scored his first goal in a league competition with a sensational crossed shot from inside the area.

The 21-year-old midfielder was promoted on a permanent basis during this season, but he spent the previous two campaigns alternating between the first team and Fabril. He completed a respectful mark of 33 Primera appearances in those two years, but the true is that he never enjoyed of continuity with former coach Lotina. And it’s that Lotina even used him as a right winger, while normally the Pontedeume-born player was performing as the playmaker at Deportivo B.

Neither he had continuity with Oltra at the start of this season; Juan Carlos Valerón, Jesús Vázquez and Álex Bergantiños were the fixed players of Oltra at midfield. So, his participation was reduced to 72 minutes as a substitute in six matches, being his biggest presence on the match with Córdoba CF (2-0), game in which he played 23 minutes after replacing Valerón.

Meanwhile, he was a starter in both Copa Del Rey matches, playing 62 minutes in the 5-1 over Girona CF and later the full match with CD Alcoyano (2-1); in this last match Juan scored the first goal of the meeting, it was also his first goal with the first team during an official match.

It seemed that Dominguez was going to spend the whole season looking things from the bench and reserving himself for the Copa, but things changed for the derby with RC Celta, Jesús Vázquez was suspended for the meeting and Oltra chose him to claim the spot alongside Álex on the pivote functions.

He left a positive impression and, despite Jesús Vázquez was already available, the Galician youngsters kept the spot for the visit to Elche CF; Deportivo lost that game (2-3), but Dominguez left again a positive impression, even giving the assist in the first goal of Guardado. And the growth of Juan Dominguez continued as on the past Friday he appeared for the third straight time to face UD Almeria, again with a solid game which included his first goal at Segunda División.

It is a hopeful factor as he and Álex complete a duo completely formed at Fabril; on Saturday Dominguez was showing his happiness after ending the training session, ”I am content in all the aspects; I´ve played the last three games and clearly the continuity brings confidence. Each time I feel more comfortable on the pitch, but the true is that it’s easier when you have Valerón at your side. "
