Important victory for a Deportivo B that was facing the game full of casualties and that suffered a lot as the goal came until the final minutes. Ramallo even suffered two new casualties due to injury reasons.

Coach Tito Ramallo was having important casualties for the meeting, mainly at the wings as the three natural wingers at the team were out injured: Julien, Víctor Diaz and Diego Vela. But there were other cases, like captain Diego Vieytes, centre midfielder Richi and left-back defender Ángel Martinez. At least Jose Manuel was returning after been off for a while and went directly into the starting formation.

It was a 4-2-3-1 scheme, Marc Martinez was at the goal, Adriá Gallego covered the right-back position, José Manuel was at the left side, while the central defenders were Stefan Deak and Pablo ÍnsuaUxio Marcos and Pedro Crespo were the pivotes, striker Álvaro Lemos was attacking from the right wing, Iago Beceiro did it from the left, the playmaker in the formation was Juan Carlos, and the central attackers was David Cubillas.

The rival for the occasion was Pontevedra CF, a team that like Fabril was at Segunda B on the past season and that’s also targeting the promotion. Coach Milo Abelleira was having problems at defense as Juan Bardal, Caco and Iván Freirá were out injured. Even recently signed defender Diego Peña was out injured, reason why the coach had to pick Pacheco from the B squad in order to be a starter at the right-back position. The main threat at the team is striker Manuel Barreiro, who had scored seven goals before this meeting. There are also five ex-Fabril players at Pontevedra, but only striker Maikel had some minutes in this game.

Tense and suffered victory for a Deportivo B that had big problems to create scoring opportunities, Pontevedra is a team that only scores a few goals away from home, but they put a lot of pressure on the rival, and in this opportunity Juan Carlos didn’t shine as he was constantly marked by two or even three rivals, beside since all the natural wingers at the team were out injured, Ramallo had to play with three strikers, which just jammed the attacks by the centre; in the end all the offensive proposal was reduced to the individual plays of Iago Beceiro and the arrival of side defender Adriá Gallego from the right flank.

Precisely, the right wing was the side that brought the first opportunity in the game for Depor B, but the shot of Juan Carlos was blocked by a defender after he attempted from the corner of the six-yard-box (11’), however the biggest chance in this half was for the visitors, it was a cross of Juáncar coming from the right side, Richi Gonzalez met the ball at the edge of the area and connected a shot that turned into volley and that was cleared by Marc Martinez (27’).

The rest of the first part meant a game stuck at midfield, with only a couple of approximations for the locals during the final minutes; the first was a great solo-play of Adriá Gallego that ended with a drilling shot that was cleared by visiting keeper Lorenzo Riveiro (41’). Two minutes later Iago Beceiro attempted from the edge of the area, but his shot went wide.

Fabril kept the ball possession for the second part, but again it was missing to create clear scoring opportunities, one of the few ones was a header of Cubillas that missed the target as Lorenzo was already beaten (50’).

Then Ramallo ordered the first change as Álvaro Lemos was replaced by Álex Pérez; the move switched Iago Beceiro to the right wing, but the locals were still missing depth. At minute 60, Cubillas was fouled at the edge of the area by Pablo Ruiz, but the referee didn’t whistle anything, which fired the protests at the stands.

To make things more difficult Ramallo started to have injury problems, firstly Serbian Stefan Deak suffered a muscular injury as he was replaced by David Garcia, who claimed one of the spots at midfield, while Uxio retreated to the centre of the defense.

Meanwhile, Pontevedra was looking dangerous in the counterattack, in one of their main chances Maikel assisted Richi, but he missed the target from close range. It seemed that the game was going to end scoreless, but seven minutes before the final whistle the locals found an opportune corner-kick that meant the lonely goal in the game.

Juan Carlos made a short assist to Iago Beceiro, who elegantly eluded two rivals to end releasing a high cross that went into the far post, just into the path of David Cubillas, who jumped to score his four goal on the season with a downward header.

Pontevedra didn’t have time to search for the equalizer, though Deportivo B suffered within the final minutes. The final modification of Ramallo was the entry of Luis for Iago Beceiro, and the locals suffered a second injury case during the stoppage time as David Garcia dislocated his shoulder, reason why the team played with ten men for one minute.

Important and at the same time suffered victory for a Deportivo B that had big problems before a direct rival; the goal came just seven minutes before the end after a great play of Iago Beceiro. Fabril still living outside the promotion zone, but at least is still close to the top four positions. On Saturday, Depor B visits last place in the table CD Lalín (17h00 CET).

Comments of Tito Ramallo: ”I believe the result is fair, this for what both teams did on the pitch. I believe it was a pretty good game, and the true is that both sides had to work hard in order to surpass the rival. I believe we did it, and therefore I’m leaving content with the performance of my players, mainly because we were facing a big rival.”
