17 Dec 2011
Deportivo has confirmed the first big renewal of the season; it’s the case of midfielder Juan Dominguez, who has extended his contract with the club until the year 2015.

Despite the promotion to Primera isn’t a sure thing yet, Depor is already moving in order to secure the continuity of its more important players, within the last days president Augusto César Lendoiro has been trying to extend the contracts of striker Lassad Nouioui and central defender Diego Colotto, but the first renewal of the season has been a player made at Abegondo: Juan Dominguez Lamas.

The negotiations with the agents of the player took place within the weekend and Wednesday’s night and on Thursday Lendoiro confirmed the deal during a press conference. The previous contract of the Galician midfielder was lasting until June of 2013, now it rules out in 2015 and the player has a buyout option of €20 million.

Lendoiro said during the press conference that, “This is a great days; we want to inform you that we have signed the extension of contract with Juan Dominguez lasting until June of 2015; we hope he will stay for more time; his previous contract was ending in 2013 and this is an important step forward, because Juan, Rochela, Álex, Seoane and Laure are key pieces of our hopes in the players grown up at Abegondo.”

“Our hope is that by the year 2015 or 2016 at least the 50% of Deportivo’s first team will be coming out from our youth teams, it’s our hope, it’s also a cultural thing and we need to wait for some years. We have to wait to see these players growing up. That’s why the extension of contract of Juan Dominguez is so important, let’s hope that in a short time we will be enjoying of more Galician players at the first team. The current Juvenil A team is the stronger one we ever had, and soon these players will grow up.” Depor’s boss added.

Meanwhile, Juan Dominguez told to reporters that, “For me this is a big hope, because this is the club where I always wanted to be; it’s an important step as a player and also as a fan. It means that people trust in me and that I can be important; it brings me confidence in order to continue growing.”

Juan Dominguez started his career playing at Narón Balompié; he joined Depor Cadete team in 2004 and began a promising career that put him at Depor B four years later. He even trained with Caparrós' first team when he was still at Juvenil A. The midfielder debuted with the first team during a friendly game against Andalusian club Lepe (3-0 win, July 26th, 2006)

His debut at Primera División occurred on December 13th, 2010; the midfielder played as starter for 56 minutes during the visit to UD Almeria. However, he has had problems to gain a fixed spot at the first team, with Lotina he only made 17 appearance as a starter within two years, and with Oltra he was a substitute until the derby with Celta, match in which he gained the spot as a starter; since that day he has been a fixed piece in the scheme of the Valencian coach.
