Oltra will have three casualties for the first game in 2012, but still is able to repeat the lineup used in liga during all the games in December. Meanwhile, the rival has two doubts for Saturday.

Deportivo’s players had one and a half week of vacations during Christmas, something unusual in previous years, it was a consequence of the elimination in Copa Del Rey. Coach José Luis Oltra wants to keep the form of his men and for that reason he planned strong training sessions for this week; on Monday the players had a very demanding training in both senses, physically and tactically.

On Tuesday the first team completed two training sessions, on Wednesday there was another training, and the three sessions were also intense; it’s the way to prepare the clash with Xérez CD (Riazor, Saturday, 18h00 CET), an important match that could give the first place at the standings depending on other results.

Oltra is having three casualties for the meeting; the first two are caused by the injuries as left-back Claudio Morel (hip) and right-back Manuel Pablo (muscular) have been working separately all week long. The other casualty is striker Rodolfo Bodipo, who already joined Equatorial Guinea ahead of the African Cup.

But Riki and Xisco are already recovered from their muscular problems and are ready to be picked; both men have been training since last Thursday in order to gain shape as soon as possible. At least one of them will be on the bench as the replacement of Lassad.

The good news is that Oltra is able to present the same starting eleven that has played in the last four liga meetings, this after the Valencian coach made eleven rotations for both Copa Del Rey legs before Levante UD, which means that he has a fresh team for January.

At Xérez, coach Vicente Moreno was told that he was going to be the emergency coach until the Andalusian club could find a replacement, but was invited to stay after the last 3-0 win over FC Cartagena. For the visit to the Riazor he is recovering left winger José Vega, who is coming back from a Soleus problem.

But Moreno has two doubts for the game: goalkeeper José María Jiménez ´Chema’ (knee ligament) and centre midfielder Rafael Barber (sciatica); both men have been training apart during the week and it seems that they will miss the clash at the Riazor. There was another doubt: defender Jesús Mendoza, who didn’t end Tuesday’s training due to a muscular problem, but on Wednesday he was already fine. This last player is an important piece in the schemes as he is a regular starter in liga (15 matches, 1225 minutes so far).

Currently Xérez is searching for reinforcements in the transfer window, mainly a central defender, a left winger and a striker, this in order to help the team lo leave the bottom places, but the financial problems –the Andalusian club is currently on administration- are a unavoidable obstacle for sporting director and former Depor’s man Emilio Viqueira.

Actually, the team is losing men still of adding more resources; on the last week right-back Raúl Llorente and winger Oscar Díaz left the club, both cancelled their contracts due to the lack of minutes and the first man signed for Tenerife CD (Segunda B) and the second ended at Girona CF. It’s also rumoured that keeper Antonio Doblas might return to Real Zaragoza after the departure of Javier Aguirre.
