Claudio Morel has been linked with Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys and also with Chilean Universidad de Chile, while Uruguayan striker Rodrigo Mora was mentioned as a possible reinforcement for Depor.

The winter market still frozen in La Coruña, but during the week two novelties have appeared in the papers; the first is the possible exit of Claudio Morel, who doesn’t count for Oltra and that had permission to leave during the summer.

On Wednesday, the Paraguayan left-back was linked with Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys; he didn’t admit anything when he was interviewed in La Coruña, but told to Radio Tres in Argentina that, ”I would love to return to Argentine football, especially to a club like Newell’s, a team that has great people, but the true is that, until this point, nobody has contacted me.”

Another thing to emphasize is that during the interview Morel said that Deportivo owes him some money, ”Right now I don’t have continuity on here, for the moment I’m just coming back from a little muscular problem, but am working with the team and wishing to have more participation. I end my contract in June and then the transfer will be on my hands. The club has a debt with me, but we would analyze the situation in case of receiving an offer.”

The curious thing is that on Friday, Morel himself was talking of his possible exit to another South American club, Chilean Universidad de Chile, this after talking to newspaper La Tercera, “I would love to play for the U [Universidad de Chile], besides is close to my country. I have six more months, but a good offer would pave the way. It’s a good team that has won everything, in Copa Sudamericana I saw them playing with a line of three and also four defenders, and I can adapt to both styles. I can perform as a side or central defender, there won’t be any problem.” He said.

Meanwhile, the club still searching for a new striker; the latest name linked with Depor is Uruguayan Rodrigo Mora (24, SL Benfica). The attacker arrived to Portugal during the past summer after ending his contract with Uruguayan club Defensor Sporting, and he hasn’t been able to gain a spot at Benfica, actually he has only played two league games without scoring goals, for this reason the Portuguese club is interested in loaning him out.

Mora was linked with Deportivo by Radio Cadena Ser, but the true is that the striker is more close to go loaned to Peñarol; the president of the Uruguayan club hopes to close the operation during the weekend, though he doesn’t want to pay the €500,000 asked by Benfica. It has been mentioned that the Portuguese club prefers to loan the player to a European club, but it’s also true that the striker has said in public that he wants to play for Peñarol.
