THINKING OF HERCULES

09 Feb 2012
Surprisingly Oltra could be recovering several players for the visit to Hércules; for now only Laure, Bodipo and Xisco are discarded. The rival is preparing the clash as it was a final; they are trying to fill the stadium for Sunday.

Big and pleasant surprises at Abegondo for the first training ahead of the visit to Hércules (Sunday, 12h00 CET, Rico Pérez stadium); on Wednesday several of the injured players were training at the same pace than the rest of the team, including right winger Bruno Gama and striker Lassad Nouioui, two men that were expected to return until next month.

The Portuguese winger picked a quadriceps injury at the end of the past week and should have been out of action for three weeks, but on Wednesday he was following the same routine than the rest of the players; same goes for the Tunisian attacker, who sustained a Soleus injury a fortnight ago and that was expected to return until the first days of March.

Other three players that were training without problems were central defender Ze Castro, right-back Manuel Pablo (both muscular) and right winger Pablo Álvarez (hamstring); they were expected to be fit for this weekend and their participation on Wednesday’s training confirmed the expectations.

The doctors at the club confirmed that these five men should be available for the weekend. In any case, they must wait for Saturday in order to see if they are picked for the trip to Alicante. To mention that Manuel Pablo was discarding himself for the game as he told to Depor Sport that he’s missing “match fitness” and “pace”.

For the moment there are only three players discarded for the meeting with Hércules CF, the first one is right-back defender Laure, who is suspended after picking the fifth yellow card of the season during the past meeting with RC Recreativo. Meanwhile, striker Rodolfo Bodipo returns today after Guinea Equatorial was eliminated from the African Cup, but he picked a muscular problem there and isn’t fit to play. Finally, attacker Xisco is the only player that on Wednesday was training apart; he sustained an adductor injury during the match with Recre and should be out for two or three weeks.

At Hércules CF, the Valencians are seeing the game as a final as they understand that a defeat will complicate their promotion aspirations, while a victory will put them just three points below Deportivo. For this reason they are trying to fill the Rico Pérez stadium for Sunday. The club is selling tickets with a special 2X1 promotion for the socios, and is even giving free tickets for the purchase of merchandise (one ticket for buying a scarf, and two for buying Nike merchandise or the credit card of the club).  The goal is to break the mark of 20,584 spectators had for the derby with Elche CF.

For the meeting with Depor, coach Juan Carlos Mandiá is only having the casualty of midfielder Alberto Escassi, who is out for a while due to a groin problem. Central defender Samuel Llorca is returning from suspension and striker David Aganzo should be available after been a last-minute casualty for the game with FC Cartagena due to a virus. Winger Gilvan Gómez could be a starter after debuting in the weekend and after been transferred from Gimnástic Tarragona.
