ANOTHER MIRACLE

17 Feb 2012
Guardado should have missed the clash with Barca B, but on Thursday he was already fine. Xisco also joined the trainings before the expectations. In the end Oltra could be presenting only one change compared to the team that faced Hércules.

Last week everybody was surprised as Bruno Gama and Lassad Nouioui were returning to train before the expectations, the Portuguese winger was even a starter at the Rico Pérez stadium. Now a new miracle has been witnessed at Abegondo: Andrés Guardado.

The Mexican didn’t end Wednesday’s training session and further scans determined that he sustained a grade-one muscle injury on his right thigh, normally this injury needs up to eight or ten days to heal, therefore it was feared that the player was going to miss the clash with Barca B; however the winger was already training with the group by Thursday.  Oltra said that he’s optimistic about the case, and that he will make a final decision today before releasing the list of picked players for the clash.

Another good news is that Xisco joined the normal trainings on Thursday, he was wearing a purple vest, which indicates to other players that he shouldn’t be touched. It’s probable that he won’t be picked for Saturday’s match, but still a positive news as his return wasn’t expected until March.

Dani Aranzubia was also in the headlines, the keeper was dragging a knock on the back from the past weekend and, despite he seemed fine on Thursday, Oltra told to reporters that he was doubtful and that a final decision will be made on Friday. The media in La Coruña is convinced that Aranzubia will be fit for the match.

In the end Oltra could be presenting a similar squad to the 4-2-3-1 lineup that played before Hércules, only making one change, Dani Aranzubia could be at the goal; the only expected modification is the reappearance of Laure, who returns from suspension in order to cover the right side at defense, the left sector should be for Claudio Morel, while Colotto and Ze Castro should cover the central positions.

At midfield, Álex Bergantiños and Juan Dominguez will cover the pivote functions; Bruno Gama will probably stay attacking from the right wing, Guardado has big options of doing it from the left, while Valerón stays on the playmaking function and Riki at the centre of the attack. In case that Guardado isn’t included for the game, then Oltra has a luxury option on his hands: Diogo Salomão, who assisted and scored a goal on the past Sunday.
