RIKI AMONG THE BEST SCORERS AT DEPOR

15 Mar 2012
Madrilenian Riki scored his goal number 35 at Deportivo during the past weekend; he tied the mark of Claudio Barragán and is now one goal away from another two historic goal-scorers, Guimerans and Claudio.

The second goal before CD Guadalajara not only meant three vital points to secure the leadership at Segunda División, it also meant the goal number 35 of Iván Sánchez-Rico Soto ‘Riki’ in his career at Deportivo, reason why he is now the 18th best scorer in the history of the club (Primera & Segunda División).

It was also the goal number ten of Riki on this season, which means that the Madrilenian is the first Depor’s player that reaches double figures since Diego Tristán scored eleven on the Primera season 2005/06. To mention that there’s a controversy with the goals scored by the ex-Getafe man on this season, because the LFP gave to him the first goal in the derby against RC Celta despite the ball clearly hit Jonathan Vila before going in.

Still, RCDLC.com is giving the goal to Riki as the stats of the LFP are the official ones. So, with the goal before Guadalajara, Riki is tying the mark of 35 goals that Claudio Barragán scored between the years 1991 and 1995.  Besides, he is only one goal under the mark of Oswaldo and Guimerans, actually the Madrilenian only needs eight more goals in order to enter into the top-ten list in the history of the club.

31-year-old Riki, who arrived to the club in 2006, is having his best scoring season at Depor; his ten goals are improving his personal mark of the campaign 2009/10 (8); an interesting fact is that the injuries have reduced his participation in the lineups, that’s one of the reason why he has one of the six best averages in the history of the club (Primera & Segunda).

Riki scores a goal every 228 minutes; a mark only improved by historic goal-scorers like Roy Makaay (one goal every 126 minutes), Bebeto (130), Diego Tristán (139.75), Pahińo (139.80) and Rafael Franco (159).
