BAD YEAR FOR ROCHELA

26 Apr 2012
David Rochela is the field player will less minutes on the current liga season; now he could have his big chance ahead of the clash against UD Almeria. Curiously, on Wednesday it was speculated that he could be loaned out.

The career of David Rochela has been jammed after been promoted to the first team; the 22-year-old central defender has only had a few opportunities within the last three years, more precisely he only played six games at Primera División within the liga seasons 2009/10 & 2010/11.

Things didn’t change with the arrival of Oltra as on the present campaign the As Pontes-born young man only played fourteen minutes during the 4-0 home victory against CD Guadalajara. He entered into the pitch replacing Guardado after Ze Castro had sustained an injury.  At least Rochela had more opportunities in Copa Del Rey; this since he completed the full ninety minutes in the four matches played in the competition.

Now, a great opportunity is knocking at the door; both Ze Castro and Aythami are doubtful for Saturday’s visit to UD Almeria and there are great chances to see Rochela as a starter. It would be his sixth appearance as a starter with the first team playing in a league competition.

Rochela has always been described as a promising player, but the true is that time is passing and he hasn’t earned a spot at Depor’s first team. It looks like the case of Álex Bergantiños, who had to leave for a couple of years in order to mature.

Perhaps that’s the reason why the club is thinking in allowing his exit in order to play loaned; Sportpaper Marca wrote on Wednesday that the central defender won’t have too minutes on next season and that the plan is to loan him out. If the club achieves the promotion to Primera then it will make signings for the position of central defender, so the plan is to open the door to Rochela in order to gain experience at other club.

On Wednesday, Rochela was interviewed at Radio Marca; the central defender was calmed and accepted his current role of substitute, ”We all want to play, but you must accept the decisions of the coach. The important thing, and what matters to me, is to clinch the promotion and return to Primera.” He said.

Asked about his possible exit on next season following the steps of Álex Bergantiños, he said that, ”I haven’t read the newspapers so I am not informed about it. But Álex was always a reference for me and the loan spells were good for him, so it won’t be a deception If I leave.”
