BUILDING UP THE TEAM

22 Jun 2012
Deportivo has 17 fixed players for next season, it is also searching for 4 or 5 new signings, and it’s studying the option of loaning 3 or 4 youngsters. At the same time the club is trying to renew 3 players that are ending contract.

It seems that the club’s officials have a clear idea of the team they want ahead of the season 2012/13; on Thursday Depor Sport published an article listing the situation of the team three weeks before the starting the pre-season. Oltra wants a team composed by 22 or 23 players, but the club is planning a squad with 24 or 25 players.

Firstly, the Sportpaper considers that there’s a list of 16 players that will stay unless an interesting offer arrives; these players are keeper Aranzubia, defenders Manuel Pablo, Laure, Ze Castro, Aythami and Ayoze, midfielders Juan Dominguez, Álex, André Castro, Jesús Vázquez, Saul, Bruno Gama, Salomão and Valerón, plus strikers Riki and Bodipo.

Later, the club has four young players coming out from the youth teams: central defenders Rochela, Pablo Ínsua, right-back Diego Seoane and playmaker Juan Carlos. The idea is to loan out three of these four youngsters and the remaining one will complete the list of 17 fixed players at the first team.

Then, the club is searching for four or five new signings; the positions to reinforce are the centre of the defense, the left-back position, the striking zone -probably two forwards- and the left wing, this last position still pending as the club hasn’t decided yet if a new left winger will be needed.

Finally, the club is hoping to sign an extension of contract with three players: Colotto, Lux and Borja Fernandez. The first two players already have renewal offers over their desks, while the club still has to negotiate with Getafe for Borja.

It calls the attention that Lassad isn’t mentioned as part of the future plans. And it’s that the club presented a renewal offer to the Tunisian striker, but he asked for a higher bid and in the end the club has discarded the option, though there’s a rumour coming out from Radio Galega that Lendoiro might attempt a final bid. Neither it’s mentioned the name of Raul Garcia, the left-back defender returning from a loan spell and that’s also ending contract.
