Once again the youngest teams at Deportivo were the ones that conquered the titles; the disappointments were the two Juvenil squads and Fabril; the positive note was to see both Cadete teams clinching a title defeating RC Celta.

The season 2011/12 ends with a balance of nine titles for the youth teams of Deportivo, one more time the best performances were for the youngest teams at the club, starting with Alevín B; team that won two titles: the league (Liga Local Futbol 7) and the Copa, including a perfect mark of 12 victories in 12 matches disputed in the final phase of the league.

The other five teams that clinched a title were Cadete A (División de Honor Cadete), Cadete B (liga Gallega Cadete & North-South title), Infantil A (Liga Gallega Cadete, North-South title), Infantil B (Liga Local Primera Autonómica) and Alevín A (Liga Comarcal Futbol 7).

Cadete A left the sweetest impression as it clinched the league title in the last matchday of the season defeating Celta Cadete A at Abegondo (3-1), while Cadete B also defeated Celta Cadete B in the final of the North-South round, though they did in the penalty shootout after the 0-0 of the regular time.

Only three teams missed a title; the first was the Benjamin squad, the youngest at the club and that was founded for this season. It ended 6th at Liga Galega Benjamin. It can’t be said that it was a negative outcome as this was the first official competition for them; actually for next season the club has decided to present a second team on this level.

The other two teams that missed a title were both Juvenil squads; Juvenil A ended the División de Honor league in a disappointing fifth position, 16 points behind champion Sporting de Gijón. The team even missed to qualify for the Copa Del Rey. Meanwhile, Juvenil B won the last nine games at Liga Nacional Juvenil, but it could only end third at the standings, 26 points behind champion Celta Juvenil B. Fabril also left a negative impression as it could end sixth at Tercera División, missing the chance to qualify to the playoff.

Deportivo also witnessed how four of its players were picked by the national teams, starting with Cadete A winger Javier Fernandez ‘Bicho’, who scored 37 goals in 34 league matches and was picked by Spain’s U-16 squad. Playmaker Julio Delgado Dominguez was also picked for this team. Fabril’s Pablo Ínsua was picked by the U-19 squad, and striker Dani Iglesias was part of Spain’s U-17 team.
