German Lux has accepted the renewal offer coming from Deportivo and will play one more season in La Coruña. He just played four liga matches on the season that has ended, but the Argentine is quite happy at the team and decided to stay.

The club announced on Friday that German Lux is renewing his contract with Deportivo for one more season. The club presented a renewal offer a couple of weeks ago and it was pending in the resolution of the keeper. At some point it was feared that he wasn’t going to accept and that the club would had to search for a keeper at the market; actually within the last days the club was linked with Greek goalie Michalis Sifakis.

The agent of the player, Néstor Sívori, talked to newspaper La Voz de Galicia and said that the keeper is staying earning less money, ”Lux understood the financial problems of Deportivo and other Spanish clubs, so he made a sacrifice in order to adapt. The priority was always the interest of the player in staying in A Coruña, place where he always felt loved, people has always treated him very well, though he has only played a few times.”

”The final agreement was reached until the last days, but his decision was always to stay; what happens is that we needed to polish some issues. What I can tell you is that German isn’t satisfied only being a replacement; he wants to demonstrate his skills. He isn’t inferior to anyone. The player understands that Aranzubia is part of Deportivo’s history, but I believe that there’s a healthy competition and it’s good for both keepers. He added.

Lux will arrive on July 8 to La Coruña in order to sign the extension of his contract and two days later he will join the pre-season of Deportivo. The Argentine goalie only played four games in liga during the season that has just ended -Real Valladolid, CD Numancia, UD Las Palmas and Villarreal B- in the first three games because Aranzubia was injured.

The ex-River Plate man was also the starting goalkeeper in the four Copa Del Rey matches disputed on the season. He left a positive impression, mainly in the liga meetings with Real Valladolid. Now Oltra has two solid choices for the goal ahead of Depor’s return to Primera División.
