Centre back Carlos Marchena was presented at the Riazor; the Andalusian player signed a one-year contract with the option of an extension of one additional season. The player told to reporters that he’s ready to give everything for his new club.

Carlos Marchena was presented on Tuesday as the seventh signing of Depor ahead of the season 2012/13. He passed the medicals early in the morning and in the afternoon was presented before the fans at the Riazor. There were around 1,500 fans witnessing the act. After posing for photographers, and after playing with the ball over the grass, the player went to the press room and addressed the media together with president Augusto César Lendoiro.

During the press conference Lendoiro explained that the defender is coming for free signing a one-year contract having the option to extend it for one additional season in case of playing at last 30 official games with Oltra’s team.  Then he welcomed the player, “If someone doesn’t need a presentation that person is Marchena. We all are glad as he’ll be here with us for this season having the option to stay for one more year.” It was also commented that the player had offers from Olympiacos FC and RCD Mallorca, but he chose Depor.

Later the player addressed the media and promised that he will give everything on the pitch for Deportivo, “What I have struggled and defended at Valencia I will do it again for Deportivo. I am arriving in order to work hard and respect the colours that are relying on me. I’ve plenty of good memories of Deportivo. It’s a great club in la liga and it has a lot to say in the competition.”

“The future is uncertain and for this reason it is pretty. You must assume all the risks. The team is composed by all the players; I just come here in order to bring things and respect the colours of Deportivo. Truly there was interest from other clubs; a lot of things influenced in my decision, from the president to the same club, but the coach [Oltra] has been a key piece to see me at Deportivo His style of playing and the way he treats the players has influenced in my decision.” He added.
