Javier Camuñas was presented on Monday as the eighth signing ahead of the season 2012/13. The winger is coming loaned for one year and there’s no buyout option over him. He was happy and explained that he’s fit to play.

On Monday, Deportivo La Coruña presented the eighth signing for the season 2012/13; it’s Javier Camuñas, a winger that can perform at both sides and that can also act as a playmaker. He’s coming on a loan spell lasting one season after the relegation of Villarreal CF to liga Adelante. There’s no buyout option over the player. The Madrilenian arrived on Sunday’s night to A Coruña, in the next morning he passed the medicals and was presented hours later at the Riazor.

During the press conference president Lendoiro admitted that Camuñas was an old wish of the club, “After all these years we are finally having the chance to get Javier Camuñas, today we are able to present him, at least we are going to enjoy of his company for one year, and let’s hope that his link with Deportivo could be extended for more time.” He said before shaking the hand of Depor’s newest signing.

Camuñas was also aware of this interest and admitted that his faith was to join Deportivo, “It seemed that I was predestined to come here. Three years ago they attempted my signing when I was at Recreativo and in the end I went to another club, because Recreativo reached an agreement with that club. Now there were other clubs interested in me, but the insistence of Deportivo and the coach [Oltra] allowed me to be here.”

Later the winger said that this is an important step on his career, “I am coming to the only club that trusted in me and that have titles. I am arriving after playing the Champions League and I’m happy for my career, but the true is that Depor is the only club in my resume that has titles. It’s a big club.”

There were some worries on his physical state as he suffered some injuries on the past season, but the Madrilenian man explained that he’s fit to play, “I’m fine, I am fine, evidently I didn’t take part of the last three friendly matches, but it was it because I was negotiating my exit. Yes, last year I faced some problems, but played 32 games (liga, Copa and Champions League) and right now I am fit to play.”

Finally, Camuñas explained what the goal of Deportivo is for the new season, “We will try to do our best effort, but right now the only goal is the permanence. You are conscious of the suffering regarding the relegation and we must focus on that. It’s hard to go down, but Depor came back in one year and it’s meritorious.”
