The half of the Portuguese players that perform in the Spanish la liga will be gathered at the Santiago Bernabéu as Depor pay a visit to Real Madrid. The major part of these players are managed by “super agent” Jorge Mendes.

A couple of interesting things ahead of the visit of Deportivo to Real Madrid; the first is the large number of Portuguese players that will be concentrated for the meeting. The Galicians currently have seven Portuguese players at the first team: right winger Bruno Gama, left wingers Diogo Salomão and Pizzi, centre midfielder André Santos, centre back Roderick Miranda, striker Nélson Oliveira and left-back Tiago Pinto.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have four Portuguese players at the first squad: Winger/playmaker Cristiano Ronaldo, centre-backs Képler Laveran ‘Pepe’ and Ricardo Carvalho plus left-back Fabio Coentrão. This means that both clubs are gathering eleven of the twenty-five Portuguese men inscribed for la liga 2012/13.

The other fourteen Portuguese men in la liga are Joao Pereira, Ricardo Costa (Valencia CF); Eliseu, Duda (Malaga CF); Simao, Rui Fonte (RCD Espanyol); Nélson, Salvador Agra (Real Betis); Tiago, Silvio (Atletico Madrid); Henrique Sereno (Real Valladolid); Hélder Postiga (Real Zaragoza)  and José Nunes (RCD Mallorca).

Another thing in common is Jorge Mendes; the “Super agent” is currently having a big impact at both Deportivo and Real Madrid and he, and his company Gestifute, is managing the career of eleven of the players at both teams plus Real’s Madrid’s coach Jose Mourinho.

More in concrete, he is the agent of Depor’s Bruno Gama, Salomão, Pizzi, André Santos, Roderick, Oliveira and Tiago Pinto, plus the quarter at Real Madrid composed by Cristiano Ronaldo, Coentrão, Carvalho and Ángel Di Maria. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise if he’s at the stands watching Sunday’s clash behind both presidents.
