TIME FOR CHANGES?

05 Oct 2012
Oltra could make changes for Saturday’s visit to Rayo Vallecano; one of the modifications is forced as Manuel Pablo is injured. Still, the Valencian coach announced that he isn’t planning drastic changes compared to past games.

Within the first six matchdays in La Liga Oltra has barely made changes at the starting eleven, basically just one change compared to the previous match, but it seems that now things are different as the Valencian trainer could be ready to at least make two modifications ahead of the visit to Rayo Vallecano.

Oltra himself admitted it during the press conference held at Abegondo on Thursday, though he said that ultimately “it won’t be a revolution”. This means that neither will he make a lot of modifications nor will switch the system.

The only change that’s confirmed is the exit of captain Manuel Pablo, who will be out for at least three weeks due to a hamstring strain. Laureano Sanabria ´Laure´ is going to replace him at the starting formation. Another modification could occur at the left side of the defense. Evaldo has been the starting choice so far, but the coach could be tempted to allow the entry of Ayoze Diaz or even to accept the debut of Tiago Pinto.

On Thursday, Evaldo gave an interview to Sportpaper AS and said that he doesn’t feel pursued for his past performances at the team, ”“I don’t feel pointed out. I’ve committed mistakes, but the general feeling is that people love me. Besides, the goals of [Real] Madrid didn’t come by the left side, only the penalty and it was because the ball hit my hand. On here we all win and lose the matches. Clearly we must improve, the coach is helping us and we need to contribute to it.”

Another thing for granted is that the casualty of Manuel Pablo is opening a window to Ayoze, Tiago Pinto and Diego Seoane, because these players could be picked for the game, in the case of Pinto and Seoane they weren’t called for any of the previous matches played in the competition. The rest of the defense should be the same one, with Dani Aranzubia at the goal and Ze Castro staying at the centre alongside Carlos Marchena.

At midfield territory, Oltra could allow the return of the couple Abel Aguilar-Juan Dominguez, but Álex Bergantiños has options of staying at the starting eleven. Actually these three players could be part of the starting squad, in that case Juan Carlos Valerón would stay on the bench, but the return of El Flaco after been on the bench at the Bernabéu shouldn’t be ruled out. Since the arrival of Oltra Valerón has never been on the bench for two straight matches, just at the end of the past Segunda season as the playmaker was injured for the last two games.

Meanwhile, Bruno Gama and Pizzi should stay performing at the wings, though Oltra could end surprising with the entry of Javier Camuñas, who debuted at Primera playing for Rayo Vallecano. Finally the ‘old’ debate of who should be the central attacker: Riki and Nélson Oliveira. For now the Madrilenian seems to be a fixed starter.
