PREPARING THE LINEUP FOR THE DERBY

26 Oct 2012
Deportivo prepare the lineup for Saturday’s Galician derby. Oltra will at least have to make one change at the lineup due to the injury cases hitting the squad; Pizzi is fit to play and will be a starter at Balaídos.

Pizzi joined the trainings on Thursday after leaving Wednesday’s session with a groin problem; the left winger is fit to play and should be a starter at Balaídos. Argentine keeper German Lux didn’t end the last session due to a muscle problem, but he should be available for the derby.

Coach Oltra is ready to keep the 4-2-3-1 draw; the main doubt is who is going to replace injured Abel Aguilar at midfield; Juan Dominguez should be the first alternative, but the Valencian coach could opt in giving a chance to André Santos, the Portuguese has just been a substitute in two opportunities in this start of la liga.

The defensive line should be the same one that faced FC Barcelona despite allowing five goals; Dani Aranzubia defends the goal, Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ should stay at the right sector, Ayoze Diaz does at the left, while Carlos Marchena and Ze Castro performs at the central positions.

Oltra has the option of playing with Javier Camuñas in the playmaking function, something he already did in recent away games, but taking in mind that next week the team starts to compete in Copa Del Rey, he could opt in keeping Juan Carlos Valerón at the starting squad and then reserve Camuñas for the Cup tournament.

With Pizzi fit to play, there won’t be modifications on the wings. Pizzi should remain on the left flank, while Bruno Gama should stay on the right. Riki should be the centre attacker; the Madrilenian scored a goal in each one of the derbies played on last season. As always there’s the debate if Nélson Oliveira should start the game.

For now only Abel Aguilar and Diogo Salomão are the players ruled out for injury reasons; Manuel Pablo joined the trainings on Wednesday after surpassing a hamstring injury, but he hasn’t received the medical okay yet. The team trains today for the last time before the game, then Oltra will release the list of picked players.
