Deportivo and RCD Mallorca will face each other twice in a matter of four days; Oltra will probably present two different squads in Copa and Liga; at Mallorca coach Caparrós is having injury problems and cannot make rotations.

After the hardest part in the calendar, which included meetings against Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Sevilla CF, Valencia CF and the Galician derby, Deportivo is now facing a more tranquil period, though neither things will be easier, especially since the Copa Del Rey is arriving, which means more games and therefore the possibility of suffering more injuries. As it happened last year coach José Luis Oltra will use the competition in order to bring minutes to the less habitual players.

Curiously Depor is debuting in Copa facing the same rival for the weekend in la liga: RCD Mallorca. Both matches will take place at the Riazor; firstly on Thursday for the Copa (21h00 CET), and then on Sunday for La Liga (16h00 CET).

Depor’s tactician is only having two players off due to injury reasons: left winger Diogo Salomão (Soleus) and centre midfielder Abel Aguilar (muscle injury). Both men are out of the double meeting against the Majorcans and are already doubtful for the next clash visiting Real Zaragoza, so probably they will return until the home clash against Levante UD.

Meanwhile, right-back Manuel Pablo already received the medical okay after surpassing a hamstring injury; he could even play on Thursday for Copa Del Rey. In this sense Oltra has 24 players available for the double meeting against RCD Mallorca, which means that he can easily present two different squads.

He can also pick players from Fabril for the first game; on Tuesday centre midfielder Paulo Teles, left winger Jorge Cano plus keepers Marc Martinez and Ricky Alonso were training with the first team. Today, Oltra will release the list of sixteen picked players for the first match.

There are six players that haven’t debuted yet in an official game during this season: right-back Diego Seoane, centre back Roderick Miranda, right winger Saul Fernández, centre midfielder Jesús Vázquez, striker Rodolfo Bodipoand left-back Tiago Pinto. The six of them may have minutes in Copa.

Totally different is the situation at RCD Mallorca; ex-Depor trainer Joaquín Caparrós started the season with a short squad (23 players) and they already suffered five serious injuries that needed surgery: centre midfielder João Victor (knee ligaments), left-back Antonio López, captain José Carlos Araújo ‘Nunes’ (both meniscus), centre midfielder Javi Márquez (ankle fracture) and striker Álvaro Giménez (groin).

And those casualties are extremely painful as four of those five players are key men at the starting formation. Without them the club has suffered four straight losses in liga. Mallorca even had to make an emergency signing in order to fill the gaps: Barca’s centre back Andreu Fontàs, who arrived loaned two weeks ago. In the end Caparrós is only having 18 players available for the double meeting with Deportivo, which means that he cannot present two different teams for the clashes at the Riazor. The Majorcan team will complete one single trip to A Coruña, and will stay training at Abegondo during Friday and Saturday after the meeting in Copa.
