THINKING OF REAL ZARAGOZA

08 Nov 2012
The injuries continue to affect Deportivo; three players will miss Saturday’s visit to La Romareda, other three are doubtful; the main problem is in attack as Oltra is only having two strikers. Real Zaragoza will face the meeting without casualties.

Deportivo travels to La Romareda in order to face Real Zaragoza (Saturday, 20h00 CET); three players are already ruled out of the game due to injury reasons. Portuguese striker Nélson Oliveira sustained a grade II strain on the Iliopsoas muscle of his left thigh during the past clash against RCD Mallorca. He'll be off for at least three three weeks. It’s a complicate injury that could even need eight weeks in order to heal.

It’s a great problem for coach José Luis Oltra, because there are only two strikers left at the first team: Riki and Rodolfo Bodipo. Madrilenian Riki has been a starter in the past ten matches and should continue on the job, but his past muscular problems are a concern, while Equatoguinean Bodipo isn’t part of the coach’s plans.

For now the position of central attacker is well covered, but any suspension or injury will put Oltra in deep problems, without forgetting that at the end of the month the Copa Del Rey returns, perhaps that’s why Depor’s tactician is already approaching to the players at Depor B; on Tuesday Luis Fernandez trained with the first team, though the 19-year-old attacker is just coming back from a knee injury that kept him at bay for six months. On Wednesday it was the turn for Portuguese playmaker Paolo Teles and winger Jorge Cano; three youngsters that could be an alternative in case of further problems.

Apart from Oliveira, there are other two players ruled out for Saturday’s game; the first is left winger Diogo Salomão. The Portuguese man isn’t training yet after suffering a Soleus injury three weeks ago and is probable that he’ll also miss the next game against Levante UD. Centre midfielder Abel Aguilar will also miss Saturday’s game (muscle injury), but the Colombian is already training on the pitch and could be back on next week.

There are other three players doubtful; Jesús Vázquez  hasn’t trained yet with the group after suffering a concussion in the match against RCD Mallorca; still he isn’t part of the coach’s plans and won’t be called for Saturday’s game.

The other two men are normal starters: centre back Carlos Marchena and left-back Ayoze Diaz; both men trained at the gym on Wednesday as they are dragging knocks; in any case it’s expected that  they’ll be fit to play on Saturday. Right-back Manuel Pablo missed the liga match with Mallorca due to a muscular problem, but he’s already back in trainings, finally Diego Seoane skipped Tuesday’s session due to flue, but he’s already back on work.

At Real Zaragoza, there are no injury concerns ahead of the meeting against Depor; coach Manolo Jiménez will be on the pitch after a two-match ban. Centre midfielder Jose Mari, winger Edu Oiol and Romanian right-back Cristian Săpunaru skipped the last training sessions as they are dragging knocks, but they should be available for Saturday.

During the week the attention has been focused in winger/playmaker Víctor Rodríguez; the player from Zaragoza B has been impressive in this start of season scoring twice; within the last days his agents had a meeting with the club in order to improve his contract. The player currently earns €30,000 and could triple his wages before the end of the campaign.
