The current financial crisis hitting Deportivo invites to think that the club will have to increase its bet in the youngsters ahead of the coming years, but within the last three seasons only twelve youngsters were able to play with the first team.

Deportivo is trying to avoid the administration figure, whether the club does it or not it’s pretty clear that there will be huge difficulties in order to hire players for the coming seasons. For the present campaign Lendoiro bet in negotiating loan spells with Jorge Mendes, something that could be repeated in the near future. But there’s another source of players that could be exploited in order to deal with the crisis: the youth teams.

It was one of the bets of the president in recent years and a subject always present during his speeches, the problem is that theory is not in practice. And it’s that within the last three seasons twelve players from the youth teams were able to debut during an official match with the first team, and only six still attached to the club with only two of them as normal starters with Oltra.

The twelve players that debuted within the past three years are: keeper Manu, right-back Diego Seoane, central defender David Rochela, left-back Raul Garcia, centre midfielders Dani, Álex Bergantiños and Juan Dominguez, playmaker sIván Pérez and Juan Carlos, plus strikers David Añon, Iago Beceiro and Dioni.

To this list it’s necessary to add right-back Laureano Sanabria ´Laure´, who debuted five years ago during the first year of Lotina at the club. The Madrilenian defender plus Álex Bergantiños and Juan Dominguez are the only three players promoted from Fabril that are currently having action with the first team.

Diego Seoane will leave at the end of the season as he didn’t want to renew his contract; so far the Ourense-born player is one of the few men at the first team that haven’t debuted yet on this season. Meanwhile, Juan Carlos is staying at Depor B after his failed exit during the summer. The other youth player that still attached to the club is David Rochela, who is currently playing loaned at Racing de Santander.

Definitely the club should try to give more options to the youngsters ahead of future seasons; among the talents that could have an opportunity are keeper Marc Martinez, centre backs Pablo Ínsua and Uxío Marcos, centre midfielder Paulo Teles plus winger Víctor Díaz. This quintet has already trained with the first team and the major part of them already played friendly games during the pre-season.

Other youngsters that could have a chance are left-back Ángel Martinez, right winger Diego Vela, left winger Jorge Cano, plus striker Álvaro Lemos, Luis Fernandez and Dani Iglesias. Cano and Luis have already trained with the first team, while Iglesias is only 17 and is currently alternating between Deportivo B and the Juvenil A squad.
