Oltra is having big problems at defense; his starting centre-backs and goalkeeper are out of the game. Meanwhile, the tension continues at Athletic; Llorente will be a starter for the first time, but he continues his war against the club.

The last defeat before Levante UD turned to be really expensive for Deportivo; the Galician team not only lost the three points, but also its starting keeper plus the two centre backs. Goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia was sent off during the meeting and is now suspended for the visit to San Mamés (Sunday, 17h00 CET).

Meanwhile, centre-backs Ze Castro and Carlos Marchena went out injured before the 15-minute mark and will be on the sidelines for some weeks. The Portuguese sustained a tear in the Soleus muscle of his left leg. He'll be off between three and four weeks, meaning he won’t play again in 2012. In the case of the ex-Valencia man, the scans revealed that he sustained a tight hamstring injury on his right thigh. He'll be off for two weeks.

All of this is happening before a week in which Deportivo will play three times in a matter of eight days, because on next Thursday Oltra’s team is facing the second-leg in Copa Del Rey against RCD Mallorca and then, on Sunday, Real Betis visit the Riazor playing for la liga.

Therefore Oltra will have to improvise in both competitions. Argentine German Lux will be the starting goalie at San Mamés, Marc Martinez will be on the bench, which will allow the debut of Ricky Alonso with Deportivo B (Fabril is hosting CCD Cerceda on Sunday’s noon).

Ze Castro leaving the pitch on Sunday after picking an injury

For the centre of the defense Oltra is only having two available players: Aythami Artiles and Roderick Miranda. In order to fill the gaps the Valencian coach has picked Pablo Ínsua from Fabril. He already played with the first team during the pre-season and on Wednesday he joined the trainings with the first team.

There’s a curious situation with Ïnsua; on the past Sunday he picked the fifth yellow card with Depor B and should be suspended to play with both Depor and Fabril, but he will serve the suspension in the match between Fabril and CCD Cerceda, which will be played on Sunday’s noon; therefore he will be available for Depor’s game, which kick-offs five hours later.

Ínsua will probably have minutes with the first team, this since Oltra will surely make rotations on Copa Del Rey, especially taking in mind that have four yellow cards and is close to be suspended. The coach could even replace Álex Bergantiños on that position, just as it happened on last Sunday.

There are other two injury cases at the team: left winger Diogo Salomão (Soleus) and striker Nélson Oliveira (muscle). So, Depor will travel to San Mamés with five casualties at the first team. At least left winger Pizzi is returning from suspension and will surely be a starter against Athletic Bilbao.

Meanwhile, the situation is tense at the Basque club; the results at both la liga and the UEFA Europa League have been disappointing. Athletic was going to visit Israel in order to face Hapoel Kiryat Shmona FC needing the three points to stay alive in Europe, but the game was postponed due to the latest developments in that country. In any case, coach Marcelo Bielsa is giving the priority to la liga and was ready to play that game with substitutes. Now he has more time to prepare the clash against Depor.

Once again all the eyes are over Fernando Llorente; the striker was one of the main stars on last season, but he didn’t want to renew his contract and is at war against the club. He hasn’t debuted yet as a starter in la liga and will be under pressure at San Mamés, this since Aritz Aduriz is suspended with five yellow cards, which is pulling back Llorente into the starting eleven. On Tuesday the 27-year-old striker refused to give a press conference, something that was requested by the club.

Apart from Aduriz; Bielsa is having other two confirmed casualties for the game against Deportivo, both of them due to injury reasons: centre midfielders Iñigo Pérez (muscle) and Carlos Gurpegi (hamstring strain). Also, centre-back Fernando Amorebieta (hip) and playmaker Iker Muniain (adductor) are doubtful and will hardly be available for Sunday.
