CHANGING HALF THE SQUAD FOR SUNDAY

24 Nov 2012
Oltra could end up changing the half of the squad for Sunday’s visit to Athletic Bilbao; three of the modifications are forced ones. At least one player will make his debut at Primera División, rather is Ínsua or Roderick.

The results aren’t matching the expectations and normally this lead to make changes at the starting formations, but coach José Luis Oltra is more keen to rely in the players that have been in the lineups for the previous meetings, with small variations, it is what he did last year at Segunda División. But for the visit to San Mamés he’s having five casualties at his team, three of them are normal starters.

Therefore the Valencian coach is forced to make modifications; he could end up making five for the visit to Athletic Bilbao. The biggest changes appear at the centre of the defense as both Carlos Marchena and Ze Castro are out injured. On Thursday, Oltra admitted that the most probable thing is to replace the duo with Aythami Artiles and Roderick Miranda, while one day later he confirmed that Fabril’s Pablo Ínsua will be picked for the first time.

Aythami is used to these situations as, after been a starter at the beginning of the Segunda tournament, he became as the normal substitute in case of any casualty for that position. Roderick, meanwhile, has only played in Copa Del Rey and could enjoy his first minutes in liga. The other alternative is to play with Ínsua, a 19-year-old kid with a big experience at Tercera, but that hasn’t debuted yet at Primera.

Oltra has big confidence in the trio and is convinced that they have the skills to do the job, especially taking in mind that’s highly probable that both Marchena and Ze Castro are going to miss more than one game in the competition; the big question is how the defense will react to these radical change as the two centre backs are changed at the same time.

There are lesser doubts at the goal as German Lux has always responded each time that Oltra has required of his services in order to replace Dani Aranzubia, the ex-Athletic unable to face his former team as he was sent off in the past clash against Levante UD.

Depor’s tactician could make other two additional modifications in his typical 4-2-3-1 figure; the first one is the entry of Abel Aguilar, who is already fully recovered from his muscle injury; he could claim the spot of Juan Dominguez performing alongside Álex Bergantiños.

The other change is the return of Luís Miguel Afonso Fernandes ´Pizzi´, who is back from suspension; he should perform at the left wing. On Thursday it was feared that Riki was going to miss this game due to a muscle injury (Soleus), but later it was known that he’s only dragging a knock and the coaching staff is trying to protect him, so the Madrilenian is going to be a starter on Sunday.
