Sílvio Azevedo is the first signing of the winter window at Deportivo. The defender said that he chose to join Depor for the presence of Domingos. Also, Lendoiro talked of more signings and the financial problems at the club.

Sílvio Azevedo was presented to the fans after a delay of two days. The presentation of the Portuguese right-back was expected for Thursday, but a delay in the sealing of the deal with Atletico Madrid delayed the presentation until Friday’s night. Actually, the president explained that the negotiation was closed at 8PM on Friday, just two hours before the presentation. On the day before the defender passed the medicals.  In the end it’s a loan deal lasting until the end of the present season, according to Lendoiro the club won’t paid anything for this operation.

Sílvio addressed the media and expressed his happiness for his arrival to Depor, “I’m pretty happy to represent this club, which is pretty big. Right now you aren’t living a good moment and we need to help, because this is a big club. Deportivo have a lot of Portuguese players and it’s good for the environment, but the Spanish and Portuguese players need to be all together and work as a united group.”

Later he confessed that the presence of new coach Domingos Paciência’s was a big factor to make this decision, “It had a lot to do with my decision, because he’s a trainer that I know pretty well. We did great things together, but it doesn’t mean that I will play. I need to work a lot first. I worked with Domingos for a full year and I liked what we did. At Braga we used to score a lot of goals and only allowed a few, we won a lot of matches and only lost a few.”

The negotiations are intense.” Asked about the specific case of centre midfielder Paulo Assunção, he said that, “He’s one of the players that interest us, but at this point we haven’t reached any agreement. In two or three days we’ll inform regarding what could happen; right now we are searching for a solution at midfield.”

Finally, Depor’s boss announced that next week the club will present the paperwork that will put Depor in administration, “We are working in the details, probably next week everything will be ready. It will be better if we can do it as soon as possible. I don’t see probable to reach an agreement, so I estimate that next week, on the first days, we will be presenting the paperwork.” He finalized.
