CHANGES FOR SUNDAY

12 Jan 2013
Domingos Paciência won’t be able to repeat the lineup of his debut in la liga; Abel Aguilar is suspended and this fact is forcing to make one modification. Riki could also be benched as he missed part of Friday’s training.

It’s expected that new coach Domingos Paciência is going to make at least one modification to his starting formation ahead of the visit to Real Sociedad. Last Saturday, the Portuguese coach debuted with a 4-3-3 figure and clinched a valuable victory over Malaga CF.

Now he´s forced to at least make one change as centre midfielder Abel Aguilar is suspended; there are other possible changes as some players have been dragging problems during the week, starting with side defenders Manuel Pablo and Evaldo. The last man dragging physical problems is striker Riki, who didn’t end Friday’s training (muscle injury), though it was only a precautionary measure.

In the end it’s expected that Domingos will keep the 4-3-3 scheme that frequently turns into a 4-2-3-1 figure. Dani Aranzubia should stay defending the goal, Manuel Pablo has surpassed an adductor injury, but if the coach doesn’t thinks that he’s ready then Sílvio could be making his debut with Deportivo. The Portuguese player arrived at the beginning of the week loaned from Atlético Madrid.

Marchena and Ze Castro should remain playing at the centre of the defense, while Evaldo is ready to keep his spot at the left. The Brazilian has been dragging a hamstring problem, but with Ayoze out injured the only replacement for that position would be Diego Seoane, who hasn’t played yet on this season. On Friday Domingos Paciência addressed the media and admitted that both Manuel Pablo and Evaldo aren’t totally recovered and that he hasn’t decided if they will play against Real Sociedad.

At midfield, in the major part of this week’s trainings, Domingos tested with Paulo Assunção replacing Abel Aguilar, though Valerón and Jesús Vázquez were also tested in the job. Domingos didn’t clarify the issue on his press conference as he only stated that “I know who is going to play”. The other two spots in the trivote figure should be for Álex Bergantiños and André Santos.

Pizzi and Bruno Gama have a fixed place at the starting eleven as they cover the wings, Riki has been the undisputed starter at the centre of the attack during this season, but the fact that he isn’t at 100% invites to think that Nélson Oliveira might finally get his first chance as a starter.
