NEW CONTRACTS FOR INSUA & TELES

12 Jan 2013
The “rain of renewals” striking the club in recent days is also reaching Deportivo B. On Thursday president Lendoiro announced the new contracts of centre-back Insua and playmaker Teles. Both youngsters will stay at Depor until the end of the decade.

Important step forward of Deportivo as on Thursday president Lendoiro announced the renewals of two of the more important players at Fabril: centre-back Pablo Insua and playmaker/centre midfielder Paulo Teles.

Insua is probably the Fabril’s player with the better projection after debuting this season in in both, Primera División and Copa Del Rey (one game in Copa against RCD Mallorca plus two liga meetings against Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid). Currently he’s a fixed starter the centre of the defense for Depor B and coach Jose Luis Devesa.

2012 was a promising year for him as he also took part of Spain’s U-19 team that earned the gold in the UEFA championship. The 19-year-old centre-back arrived in 2008 to Deportivo and so far he has made 15 appearances on this Tercera season. The Arzua-born player is now signing a contract lasting until 2017.

Meanwhile, the case of Teles is more surprising. He just landed at Deportivo during the past summer signing a three-year contract, and six months later he already earned a contract lasting until 2019, so right now the Portuguese youngster is the player at the club with the longest contract.

The 19-year-old playmaker picked an injury at the beginning of the Tercera tournament, but managed to play in 14 of the 19 Tercera matches of Deportivo B scoring two goals and bringing three assists. Also, he was picked by former coach Oltra in order to train with the first squad.

What remains uncertain is the number of years that both Insua and Teles will spend at the B squad; in past seasons the club signed one-year renewals with the youngsters plus an option of a three-year renewal in case of been promoted, those were the cases that allowed Álex Bergantiños and Juan Dominguez to reach the first team, but it seems that these long contracts are a new strategy of the club towards the youngsters.
