Ugly game at Abegondo between the best team at Tercera and Deportivo. Domingos gave minutes to the less habitual players and also allowed the debut with the first team of Ángel Martinez, Paulo Teles and Jorge Romay.

The friendly match against Racing de Ferrol was arranged since the past week, it should be understand as a way to give minutes to new signings Sílvio and Assunção, plus to help the players to practice the concepts of new boss Domingos Paciência.

Beyond this, the substitutes were able to pick up some minutes. The lineup was a 4-2-3-1, with Lux defending the goal, Diego Seoane played at the right side of the defense, Silvio did it on the left, while Aythami and Fabril’s Pablo Insua covered the centre of the defense.

Paulo Assunção and Juan Dominguez were the two centre midfielders, Camuñas attacked from the right wing, Diogo Salomão did it from the left, Valerón the playmaker and Nélson Oliveira was the central attacker. There were around 2,500 fans at Abegondo, a solid attendance taking in mind that it was raining.

There were several familiar faces at Racing de Ferrol, starting with coach Aira, a former player of Deportivo that’s succeeding as a football trainer. Also midfielder Dani, who was the former captain of Depor B and playmaker Iago Iglesias. Both were starters in the game.

The match was ugly, without too many scoring opportunities and with two teams that were imprecise, the only positive thing of the first part was the performance of Salomão on the left flank and the great goal of Insua, who scored with a shot from the edge of the area after a rebound in a corner-kick action. The defender from Fabril had also scored on the weekend in the mini-derby against Celta B.

In the rest of the first part the Blanquiazul outfit had the ball possession, but it barely stepped into the rival’s area. Only Oliveira had a chance to score, but he sent the ball wide (39’). Besides, the pouring rain lowered the spirit of both teams. Racing Ferrol is the current leader at Tercera, with 16 wins out of 20 games, but in the first part they barely gave problems to Lux, just a fast counterattack in which Sergio Díaz ‘Chicho’ sent the ball wide when he was alone inside the area (20’).

For the second half there were four modifications, starting with the debut of Fabril’s left-back Ángel Martinez with the first team. Centre-back Uxío Marcos from Fabril also entered, plus Rodolfo Bodipo and Jesús Vázquez.

The draw still was a 4-2-3-1, with Lux at the goal, Seoane at the right side of the defense, Uxío and Aythami at the centre of the defense and Ángel performed at the left. Jesús Vázquez and Juan Dominguez were the centre midfielders, Camuñas was still performing on the right wing, Salomão was at the left, Oliveira was the playmaker and Bodipo the central attacker.

Depor were still having the ball possession for the second part, though without leaving a positive impression. There were a lot of inaccuracies in the passes and the only opportunities to score were a couple of shots completed by Oliveira, who was more noticed in this half after delaying his position on the pitch.

Racing de Ferrol had a great chance to score the equalizer with a shot of Pablo Rey that hit the post (49’). Los Granates, curiously, improved after coach Aira made the changes searching to give minutes to the youngest players, and it’s that three players from the Juvenile A team debuted with the first team, and they equalized after a big error of that was capitalized by Carlos López.

Then Domingos allowed the debut of other two players from Fabril: Jorge Romay and Paulo Teles. Still, it wasn’t enough and Deportivo didn’t create any other opportunity, reason why the game ended 1-1.
