Squad news

Deportivo is searching for one more centre-back and also for a striker, but before the club must open the door in order to allow exits from the squad. In the meantime Diego Seoane is negotiating the renewal of his contract.

Domingos Paciência said on the past week that his priority is to sign a fourth centre-back for his team and also that Deportivo is interested in signing a new striker. The winter window closes its doors on next Thursday and for now the club has been linked with two centre-backs that are currently performing in Portugal.

The first one is Rolando Jorge Pires (27, FC Porto). Sportpaper A Bola wrote on Monday that Deportivo were negotiating the loan of the defender, but one day later another Portuguese Sportpaper, O Jogo, wrote that Porto had rejected any deal for him and that now Depor were targeting another player from the Liga ZON Sagres: Valentin Roberge (25, CD Maritimo)

The Frenchman was already linked with Depor during the past summer transfer window; actually he was the main target before the club decided to sign Roderick Miranda, who already left the club. Neither Rolando nor Roberge are represented by Jorge Mendes.

In any case, Deportivo must first secure the exit of some players that won’t have minutes with Domingos, because currently there are no available spots to make signings. That seems to be the hard part of this “two-side” story, because neither Jesús Vázquez, Rodolfo Bodipo nor Saul Fernandez seem open to negotiate their exits.

Perhaps one real possibility is Juan Dominguez, a player that hasn’t entered into the plans of Paciência and that could end up loaned out. Finally, it has been commented by Radio Galega that the club is about to sign a new contract with right-back Diego Seoane. The club offers a three-year extension and the possibility to play loaned at Córdoba CF for the rest of this season. This possible exit won’t solve the problem of the signings though, because he was inscribed as a B team player.
