Domingos Paciência is having problems to prepare the game against Valencia. There are three men already out of the meeting, while up to three players are doubtful. The rival was just eliminated from the Copa Del Rey.

Crucial game on Saturday as Deportivo host Valencia CF at the Riazor (22h00 CET). The Galicians, currently at the bottom of the standings, desperately need the victory in order to climb some positions. But coach Domingos Paciência is having problems in order to prepare the game, this due to the injuries hitting the squad.

Three players are already out of the clash due to injury reasons: right-back Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ (groin), centre midfielder Abel Aguilar (muscle strain) and centre-back Carlos Marchena (hip- muscle injury). Then there are three players doubtful for the clash.

Riki is the first name in this short list. The Madrilenian attacker picked an ankle sprain during the past game against CA Osasuna and should be out for at least two weeks, but the player, who has been a starter in the twenty liga matches played so far, is hoping to have a miraculous recovery.

He commented the issue on Tuesday, ”It will depend of my sensations. My ankle is swollen and we’ll make anything possible in order to be available on Saturday. I’m optimistic and am working in order to play. I hope I would be able to play, but if I cannot walk then I will be unable to play.”

For the moment he hasn’t trained during this week; there are other two players doubtful for Saturday: left-back Evaldo Fabiano (adductor) and left winger Pizzi (back problem). The club’s doctors expect that both men will be available for Saturday. At least left-back Ayoze Diaz (adductor) already received the medical okay, while right winger Saul Fernandez joined the trainings on Wednesday after surpassing a similar problem.

Valencia CF will arrive to the Riazor after a traumatic week; on Sunday they were humiliated by Real Madrid playing at Mestalla (0-5) and yesterday they were eliminated from Copa Del Rey by the same rival. The whole season has been convulsive and the result was the exit of former coach Mauricio Pellegrino, he was replaced by Ernesto Valverde, who clinched good results before the multiple meetings with Real Madrid.

There are three confirmed casualties for the game. The first one is winger Sofiane Feghoul, who’s playing the African Cup with Algeria. Midfielder Dani Parejo is out due to a hand fracture and left-back Jeremy Mathieu is sidelined due to an Achilles injury. Both men are expected to return in February.

The players in doubt are striker Roberto Soldado (muscle problem) and centre midfielder David Albelda (Soleus). Both are training apart and weren’t included in the list for the second-leg in Copa Del Rey, but aren’t ruled out of Saturday’s visit to the Riazor. Playmaker Sergio Canales is back nine months after sustaining a serious knee injury.
