THINKING OF GETAFE

31 Jan 2013
Valerón & Aythami are the last victims in the injury epidemic that’s striking Deportivo, at least coach Domingos is recovering Abel Aguilar & Marchena. The rival is also having mixed news in terms of casualties at the squad.

Mixed news for Deportivo and coach Domingos Paciência during this week. The defeat at home against Valencia CF (2-3) was followed by the news that Aythami Artiles picked a grade II injury on his right thigh (dorsal hip muscles). It was even reported that he picked the injury in the first half of the game, so he wasn’t fit to play during the second part, now he should be out of action for at least two weeks.

There aree more problems at defense, Sílvio Azevedo was sent off in the match against Los Ches and is now unavailable for the visit to Getafe CF (Saturday, 18h00 CET), while right-back defender Laureano Sanabria ´Laure’ (groin) remains sidelined.

Centre midfielder Paulo Assunção is also off after been sent off on Saturday. To make things worse playmaker Juan Carlos Valerón suffered an ankle sprain during Tuesday’s training and he will be off for a couple of weeks.

But there are some good news too. Centre midfielder Abel Aguilar is already recovered from a muscle problem and is fit to play, and on Wednesday left-back Evaldo Fabiano and centre-back Carlos Marchena (both muscle injury) were back with the team and even were tested in the probable lineup for the clash at the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum.

So, in the end, Domingos is losing two players, but at the same time recovering three men that were starters before suffering an injury, Depor’s coach also had time to work with players from Fabril; on Tuesday, centre-back Pablo Insua trained with the first team, while one day later right-back Iván Garrido and centre-back Roberto Suárez ´Róber’ were working with the senior squad.

There are also mixed news at Getafe CF. The team has been unable to achieve a victory within the last six matchdays and the European dream is fading away. At least things are more positive taking into account the novelties at the squad.

Coach Luis Garcia is losing left-back Miguel Torres and ex-Depor centre-back Albert Lopo, both due to suspension after picking the fifth yellow card on the season. Besides, centre-back David Ángel Abraham was transferred to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim  on the past week. Besides there are three players out for injury reasons: Left-back José Manuel Jiménez Ortiz ‘Mane’ (Achilles), right winger Ángel Lafita (ankle sprain) and centre midfielder Juan Rodriguez (muscle problem).

But there are good news too, because winger Pedro León is finally back from a knee sprain and will probably play his first game in 2013. Besides, centre midfielder Medhi Lacen and playmaker Abdel Barrada are available as Morroco and Algeria were already eliminated from the African Cup. Barrada was the best player in the 1-1draw of the first round and he scored the goal for the Madrilenians.

Finally, a couple of signings: left-back Sergio Escudero joined the team this week after been loaned by German side Schalke 04. He was close to join Depor before joining the club from the Bundesliga and now it seems that he could be a starter on Saturday due to the casualty of Mane and Miguel Torres. And on Wednesday the club confirmed the capture of centre-back Federico Fernández, who’s coming loaned from SSC Napoli. He’ll be presented today and it isn’t probable that he will be part of Saturday’s game against Depor.
