THE SALVATION IS AT HOME

08 Feb 2013
7 of the 20 team in la liga have only played 10 times at home on this season, and three of those clubs are precisely the bottom three places in the competition. More than ever before Deportivo need to regain the strength at the Riazor.

Taking into account that the permanence means to at least add 43 points, Deportivo need 27 more in order to reach the goal, and with only 16 games remaining in the schedule it means to add the 56.25% of the points at stake.

It’s a high percentage, but the main hope at this desperate moment is that this number exactly represents the number of points still to be played at the Riazor. Depor still have to play nine games at home, only other seven clubs are living the same situation, including the other two clubs in the pit –RCD Mallorca and RC Celta- but others teams in trouble like CA Osasuna only have 7 more matches at home. Granada CF, the next rival in liga, only have 8.

So, the survival chances of Deportivo are passing through capitalizing the major part of the meetings that will be played in A Coruña in the coming months, starting with the near future as three of the next four matches will be played at home: Granada CF (Feb 9), Real Madrid (Feb 23) and Rayo Vallecano (March 03).

The positive thing is that, apart from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid (May 05), the remaining home clashes represent meetings against rivals from mid-table or direct rival for the permanence: RC Celta (March 17), Real Zaragoza (Apr 7), Athletic Bilbao (May 21), RCD Espanyol (May 19) and Real Sociedad (Jun 1).

Following this logic: if Deportivo is able to win all the points still to be disputed at home then the permanence is highly probable, while any point dropped at the Riazor will force the Blanquiazul outfit to regain it in any of the 7 remaining away meetings: Sevilla CF (Feb 15), FC Barcelona (March 10), RCD Mallorca (March 31), Levante UD (Apr 14), Real Betis (Apr 28), Real Valladolid (May 12) and Malaga CF /May 29).
