ONE MORE YEAR FOR ARANZUBIA

14 Feb 2013
Goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia is extending his career at Deportivo in one more year, this after playing 20 games on this season. So far the Riojano has played 163 league games with the Blanquiazul outfit.

The only good news from the last defeat against Granada CF is that Daniel Aranzubia reached the mark that allows his to extend his contract with Deportivo. The ex-Athletic goalie ends his contract with the club in June, but there’s a clause in his contract that allows an automatic renewal in case of playing 20 games in his last year of contract.

And the game number 20 on this season for him came in the latest meeting played at the Riazor, so Aranzubia will spend a sixth year in A Coruña. He arrived to Deportivo for the season 2008/09 and has been the starting option of all the coaches that where at the club, from Lotina to Domingos Paciência. Actually, he has only missed 12 league games in 5 years at the club.

On Wednesday the keeper addressed the media; he didn’t’ want to talk of the issue and preferred to emphasize that the players are convinced that Depor are going to stay at Primera, ”I am not thinking that Depor will be at Segunda on next season.” he said.

THE CASE OF MARCHENA
During the summer Carlos Marchena  signed a one-year contract with Deportivo, he also has an option to extend the deal for an additional season, but for that he must play 30 official games on this campaign, but the problem is that, so far, he has only performed in 17 matches (16 in liga and 1 in Copa).

Therefore, he needs 13 more matches in order to get the automatic renewal, 15 matchdays are remaining in the calendar and, taking in mind that the defender is suspended for the next game in Seville, then he must play in 13 of the last 14 matches in order to get an automatic renewal.
