It seems that Pablo Insua is only chosen for the biggest tasks of the season. The 19-year-old youngster has only played twice in liga, but both were great experiences (San Mamés and the Calderón), now he could add the Camp Nou to his resume.

It hasn’t been a notorious season for the youngsters at Fabril regarding his participation with the first team. The big problems at the standings of Primera División, plus the three changes of coach, aren’t allowing luxuries and therefore the B team members have spent their time competing at Tercera División.

Pablo Insua is the only member of Deportivo B that has had the opportunity to play with the first team in an official game during the present campaign; totally the centre-back has played three games with Depor’s first team (two in liga and one in Copa), always covering the spots opened due to the injuries and suspensions.

He debuted for the visit to Athletic Bilbao (Nov 25); there were injuries hitting the team and things got worse when Roderick Miranda sustained an injury at minute 79; the Galician youngster replaced the Portuguese man turning into the 25th Fabril’s member that debuts in an official game since the foundation of Abegondo. He did a decent job and Depor picked a point (1-1).

Four days later he was a starter in Copa Del Rey visiting RCD Mallorca, this since the injuries were still hitting the squad. Depor were eliminated, but the Galician outfit kept a clean sheet (0-0), something that has only occurred six times on this season.

But then he made a step backwards: the visit to the Calderón stadium. Former coach Oltra was having the casualties of Aythami, Ze Castro and Marchena, so he had to play with Roderick and Insua at the centre of the defense. The outcome was terrible as the whole team had a poor performance allowing Falcao to score five time and lead his team to a 6-0 win over the Blanquiazul team, the worst defeat in decades.

Insua wasn’t blamed for the result, but neither helped for his integration to the first squad. Instead, he kept been a normal starter at Fabril and joined the first team just when it was needed. And a new window is opened as once again three of the four centre-backs at the first team are out of the next meeting.

And fate wanted that the selected game for Insua’s return is the Camp Nou. It’s a new opportunity for the Arzua-born defender, but it’s also a tough exam as he will have to deal against players such as Messi, Villa or Iniesta.
