Fernando Vázquez recovers Marchena and Riki for the Galician derby, two crucial pieces at his squad. Celta arrive to the meeting having problems at midfield after the injuries of Álex López and Natxo Insa.

The Galician derby is back and it arrives with both Deportivo and RC Celta needing the points in order to escape from relegation (Riazor, Friday, 21h45 CET). Coach Fernando Vázquez has been boosted by the news that both Carlos Marchena and Riki will be available for the meeting.

Marchena was suspended after been sent off against Rayo Vallecano and reinforces the centre of the defense, sector that has been affected lately due to the injury cases of Ze Castro (adductor) and Kaká (hamstring strain). Both men have been training apart and will probably return until April. So, the ex-Valencia and Aythami Artiles are the only available centre-backs for the game, though Vázquez can also rely in Pablo Insua, who was a starter at the Camp Nou leaving a positive impression.

The return of Riki means great news for Deportivo; the Madrilenians is the Pichichi at the team with ten goals scored and surely is the most in-form man in attack. The grey game of Nélson Oliveira and the wingers against Barca leaves the impression that Riki is the only resource that can lead to score some goals.

During the past weekend the ex-Getafe man missed his first game on the season, but the true is that somehow he could have played at the Camp Nou. He picked an adductor injury the week before, but by Saturday he was already training and Fernando Vázquez just left him out of the game in order to reserve him for the derby and because the administration didn’t allow a trip to Catalonia with 19 players, something he confessed during an interview with newspaper La Opinión A Coruña.

Riki trained with the group on Monday and Tuesday and will probably be the starter in attack against Celta. Who remains sidelined is right-back Laureano Sanabria ´Laure´. The Madrilenian trained apart on Monday and haven’t received yet the medical okay, so he will miss another game. The ex-Fabril hasn’t played yet in 2013. Meanwhile, centre midfielder Jesús Vázquez didn’t end Tuesday’s training due to a groin problem and will undergo new tests on Wednesday.

This week has brought a change in the routine of Deportivo; Fernando Vázquez has been training in double sessions at the beginning of the week and later he gradually reduced the pace as the day of the next game was approaching.

But on this week the team has been training more relaxed, because there was only one training session on Monday and Tuesday and both were less intense than the two-hour sessions of past weeks. The club was planning to have an open session to the public on Tuesday, but the plans were changed due to the heavy rain, this in order to protect the grass at the Riazor.

At Celta, coach Abel Resino is having a big problem at midfield. Natxo Insa is out due to a muscle injury and on Sunday Álex López picked a hamstring strain during the game against Real Madrid. It means that the only available men for the pivote positions are Danijel Pranjić and Borja Oubiña.

The Croatian hasn’t matched the expectations after joining the Galician club in January, and to make things worse Oubiña isn’t at 100% as he´s dragging a muscle problem from the game against Madrid. These problems could move Resino to play with Jonathan Vila and Gustavo Cabral in these positions.

Celta have other two casualties due to injury reasons: centre-back Samuel Llorca and right-back Hugo Mallo, both players are already out for the rest of the season after needing a knee surgery. Also, on Tuesday, striker Mario Bermejo picked a knock, but he should be fit to play for Friday’s derby.
