Deportivo B are improving a lot after a slow start at Tercera División, and big part of this success is thanks to Luis Fernández and Álvaro Lemos, duo that has been directly involved in 29 of the 51 goals scored on this season.

The first team has the combination between Riki and Pizzi, duo responsible for the major part of the goals at Primera, and Deportivo B are having their own partnership of the goal: Álvaro Lemos and Luis Fernández.

Together, this duo has scored, assisted or provoked a penalty in 29 of the 51 goals conquered by Fabril on this Tercera season. This means 56.86% of the total. As example what happened last Saturday at Abegondo. Depor B demolished Betanzos CF with a 5-0 score, and both players were involved in four of the five goals.

Luis’ story is more dramatic as he suffered a knee injury on last season, problem that sidelined him for eight months. For this reason he didn’t play in the first matches of the Tercera campaign, but it wasn’t an obstacle to score fourteen goals in nineteen presentations, plus providing an assist. He just needs two more goals to reach the mark of Juan Carlos, who last season scored 16 goals in 34 matches.

Meanwhile, Lemos is a striker that has been reconverted into a right winger; he didn’t begin the season as a normal starter, but gained a spot at the team as soon as he started to provide assists and taking advantage of the fact that Diego Vela was injured. Totally, he has scored nine goals and has provided ten assists. He’s the first player with ten or more assist at Deportivo B since Iván Pérez Maceiras completed 12 during the Segunda B season 2008/09.

Both players are 19 and have been playing together since some years ago, many fans are already asking coach Fernando Vázquez to give them a chance with the first team. For the moment they have just trained with the first squad as the coaching staff prefers to keep them progressing at Tercera. This duo is going to be the one of the main assets of Depor B if the squad is able to qualify to the promotion playoffs to Segunda B

The true is that Lemos and Luis aren’t the only explanation why Depor B have claimed to the third spot at the standings of the Galician group at Tercera División. There are other players that have improved a lot lately. Starting with Jorge Romay, the undisputed playmaker at the team after the exit of Juan Carlos. He has scored three goals and also provided seven assists.

Wingers Jorge Cano and Diego Vela have been coming in and out of the lineups, but together they have brought eight goals plus nine assists. 17-year-old Dani Iglesias has had a more discrete contribution, mainly as he has spent more time at Juvenil B, but his numbers are respectful: 5 goals in 8 games at Tercera.
