New victory for Deportivo B and the youngsters jumped to the third position at the standings thanks to the failure of Compostela. Things were hard in the first part, but in the second Fabril solved the puzzle scoring four times.

Coach José Luis Devesa continued facing big problems at defense, Uxío Marcos wasn’t at 100% and started the game on the bench, Róber was playing with the Galicia’s U-19 team, at least Insua was back as he didn’t play in the Galician derby with the first team. Still, the coach had to improvise at the centre of the defense. Besides, defenders Jose Manuel and Marcos Caridad were out injured. To make things worse centre midfielder Oumar Sidibé was out suspended after been sent off in the previous match. Centre midfielder Richi and striker Dani Iglesias completed the long list of casualties. Both were injured.

The system was a 4-2-3-1. Marc Martinez defended the goal; Diego Vela had to perform at the right-back position, this since Iván Garrido was moved to the centre in order to join Pablo Insua. Ángel Martinez played at the left side of the defense. Adrian Martinez and Teles were the centre midfielders, Álvaro Lemos attacked from the right wing, Jorge Romay was the playmaker, Jorge Cano covered the left flank, and Luis Fernández was the central attacker.

The rival visiting Abegondo was Betanzos CF; team coached by José Manuel Pose and that’s trying to avoid the drop zone. Ex-Depor Javier Vispo is part of the squad, but he was out of the game as he was also joining the Galician U-19 squad. Felipe Rodriguez is the main reference up front after scoring six goals in the tournament, but he was out of the game due to a suspension.

It was harder of what the score can tell. Depor B faced big problems to surpass the wall of Betanzos throughout the first part, but things radically changed in the second as the rival fell apart allowing four goals plus suffering an expulsion. The improvised defense left a positive impression, while the whole attacking line was effective enough to clinch the victory.

Fabril was too thick within the first half an hour; they created a couple of opportunities that weren’t materialized by Luis and Insua. In the first the striker didn’t find the target after an assist of Lemos (9’); in the second the defender headed out a corner of Romay (30’).

Betanzos, meanwhile, were controlling midfield territory and brought problems through the counterattacks. Felipe was missed, but his substitute Javi Otero made a great job bringing a lot of problems to the improvised defense of Depor B. The main opportunity for the visiting team came at minute 24, Marc Martinez failed to clear a corner and the loose ball was caught by Javier Angeriz, who fired from the box and this time Fabril’s goalie made the save.

Despite the problems the defense left a positive impression, with Iván making a solid job at the centre and Vela joining the attacks by his side. Romay wasted the next opportunity for the locals (32’), but then he was an important piece in the first goal. The playmaker led a counterattack and broke the deadlock through a series of quick passes with Álvaro Lemos, who eluded two rivals to score his 8th goal on the season past visiting goalie Diego López.

The second half was completely different, because Betanzos felt apart after allowing a quick second goal. Just seconds after the kick-off Jorge Cano scored his fourth goal on the season through a beautiful volley inside the area after collecting a cross of Luis. He was in the middle of two defenders and managed to complete an acrobatic shot.

Devesa ordered the first modification and Uxío replaced Ángel Martinez, which moved Iván Garrido to the left-back position, At this point the rival gave up and things were pretty easy for Fabril. Three minutes later Depor B scored the third goal. Again Romay was involved in the play as he assisted Teles at the left side of the area, the Portuguese midfielder released a crossed and drilling shot that beat Diego López; the ball hit the far post, but Diego Vela was there to score his fourth goal on the season from close range.

Things got worse for the visiting team as Betanzos were reduced to ten men after centre midfielder Michi Leal was sent off with two yellow cards. Without mark at midfield, the attackers of Fabril didn’t face any position and the team totally outplayed the rival within the next ten minutes

In this way two more goals arrived, both scored in a matter of two minutes and having the same finisher: Luis Fernandez. In the first the striker got a cross of Lemos coming from the right, he eluded a rival turning off and firing a crossed shot that ended at the back of the net. Then Iván released a high cross from the right, Cano made a small deflection that turned into an assist to Luis, who scored again through a drilling shot, this time deflected by Diego López. With the brace the striker has netted now 14 goals in 19 presentations.

There were no more goals, but Devesa made two more changes that rotated the players’ position. Victor Díaz entered for Luis and the winger performed at the left-back position, moving Iván to the right and Vela advanced his position on the field. Then, Álex Pérez replaced Cano and he was the central attacker with Lemos attacking from the left wing. Insua picked an injury in the final minutes, but he continued on the pitch as there were no more changes.

Another convincing presentation for Deportivo B; the team faced some problems in the first part, but the result was sort out in the second. Romay, Lemos and Luis remain as the main references up front, while the casualties at defense didn0t cause any damage. The good news is that SD Compostela could only grab a point in their visit to RC Vilalbés, reason why Fabril is now third at the standings, having a five-point gap over fifth place Pontevedra CF. On Saturday, Depor B play again at home, this time hosting promotion aspirant UD Somozas (Abegondo, 17h00 CET). Luis will miss this game after picking his fifth yellow card of the season.
Comments of Devesa: ”It was a hard worked match despite the final score, because the rival brought many problems. In the end the result is pretty good. We work every week and the players must get used to perform in different functions; they are doing fine and we all are content. All of them yield at the top performing in a certain position, but in a punctual moment it shouldn’t be noticed. Iván was fine as centre-back. Vela was fine too as a side defender. And both Luis and Lemos are fine too. They are smart and enjoy playing, they make us better.”
