Bad news for Deportivo as Marchena will not play in the remaining seven games of the league tournament after picking an injury in the last game against Levante UD. Hes the centre-back with more minutes at the team.

Carlos Marchena picked an injury at minute 49 of the match against Levante UD. He was stretched off and the scans revealed that the injury was a quadriceps strain on his right thigh. The club informed that the player will remain sidelined for six weeks, with seven matchdays remaining in the calendar its certain that he wont longer play on this season.

Its an important casualty for coach Fernando Vzquez as Marchena is the centre-back with more minutes at the squad (1,852); the ex-Valencia man is the only centre-back that was a starter in the seven victories during the league season; actually hes one of the four players that were starters in those meetings (the other were Aranzubia, Bruno Gama and Pizzi).

Now, the coach will probably rely in Ze Castro and Aythami Artiles, the other two centre-backs with more than 1,000 minutes in the league tournament. Brazilian Kak and Fabrils Pablo Insua are the other two alternatives for the coach.

The injury also means that Marchena is in danger of renewing his contract with Deportivo. During the summer the defender signed a one-year contract with the Galician club, the deal had the option of an automatic renewal in case of playing 30 official games, until this point he had played 22 liga meetings plus one presentation in Copa Del Rey.
