Up to nine players of Deportivo are at the edge of suspension, four of them are normal starters with Fernando Vázquez. It’s an issue that must be handled properly in order to avoid problems ahead of the last six games in the liga tournament.

Deportivo approach to the last stretch in the liga competition facing problems with the yellow cards; six games are remaining in the calendar and the Galician outfit has nine players at the edge of suspension. Four of them are usual starters with coach Fernando Vázquez: Manuel Pablo, Pizzi, Riki and Abel Aguilar

There are other five men that aren’t habitual starters and that are facing the same situation: Álex Bergantiños, Ze Castro, Ayoze, Laure and Evaldo. All of them are one yellow card away from the suspension.

Abel Aguilar is a key piece at midfield and is the player with more cards at the team: nine. The other eight cases are players with four yellows during the liga season. Manuel Pablo picked a fifth yellow card in the home meeting against Real Zaragoza, but later the competition committee accepted the appeal of the club and lifted it.

Pizzi and Riki are the top-scorers of the team as the duo has netted 20 of the 43 goals on the season (46% of the total), in the case of the Portuguese winger he will be ineligible to play in the next game against Atlético Madrid, so it’s commented that he could be trying to force the fifth card in the upcoming clash against Real Betis, this in order to fulfill the suspension in the game against the Madrilenian club.

Meanwhile, Riki commented during the week that this situation isn’t conditioning the way to perform of the players, “When you are on the pitch you aren’t thinking of having four yellow cards. It isn’t conditioning your performance. We all would like to end the season with four yellow cards, but football is like this.”

Coach Fernando Vázquez admitted that this situation is always a problem, ”I don’t know if it’s good to think of this or not. God will tell. The yellow cards are a real headache and already affect my plans for the games.” He told o Sportpaper AS.
