Dani Aranzubia will make his 300th appearance at Primera División facing RCD Espanyol; he’s optimistic regarding the salvation chances of Depor, and also criticized the team for the past performance against Real Valladolid.

Deportivo are focused in picking the three points in the upcoming meeting against RCD Espanyol; Daniel Aranzubia is optimistic of the survival chances of the team despite the recent setback in Valladolid, “Three matches are remaining, thee finals, and after arriving to this point and have done the most difficult part, we aren’t going to down the arms right now. We aren't going to surrender; we’ll try; off course we've many chances, because the team is fine despite the latest result. We must focus in the next game and forget of the rest." He said after Tuesday’s training.

This time Depor’s keeper was hammering the squad itself for the defeat in Valladolid, “We didn’t make a solid game and I don’t know if it was it a mental or physical tiredness or maybe that stadium isn’t a good place for us, in any case there’s no excuse. Playing for what was at stake, it shouldn’t have been a game like that.”

Still, he also criticized the referees, just as he did on Sunday, “The team isn’t where it currently is just for the referees, but at the moment of playing these decisive games the decisions of the referees affect you, then there’s no other thing to do than to protest; this in order to see those doubtful plays, like the penalties against Atlético, turn in your favour.”

“The latest decisions of the referees aren’t helping the team. It seems they are very interested in guessing right, but within the last matchdays they are committing a lot of mistakes; we also witnessed an incomprehensible error in the game of Celta, and when you are playing for a lot of things, then it hurts more.” He added.

Finally, the former keeper of Athletic was praising the reaction of RCD Espanyol during the second round, “After their bad start of season, there was a moment when they reacted, it was after our previous game and they clinched a positive streak that even put them in the fight for Europe. Taking in mind their calendar they should arrive without too much pressure, but in any case it will be complicated.”

The past match at Real Valladolid meant the game number 299 for Aranzubia playing at Primera División. The first 162 games of the Riojano keeper at the elite of Spanish football were disputed with Athletic Bilbao between the years 2000 and 2008, so the match against RCD Espanyol will be his 300 presentation at the top-division of Spain.

Currently, Aranzubia has made 137 appearances at Primera wearing the Blanquiazul shirt; this means that he’s the fifth keeper at Depor with more games at the top-flight, just behind Juan Acuña (230), José Francisco Molina (169), Francisco Liaño (164) and Jacques Songo’o (151).
