THINKING OF REAL SOCIEDAD

30 May 2013
Fernando Vázquez could have a full squad available for the last matchday of the season; Marchena returned and could be ready for Saturday. Real Sociedad have two injury cases, but it won’t affect the normal starting eleven for the game.

The last matchday has arrived and Deportivo host Real Sociedad at the Riazor (Saturday, 21h00 CET). It’s a final for both teams. The Galicians need the three points to secure the permanence, while the Basques need the victory and to see Valencia CF failing in the visit to Sevilla CF in order to play the next UEFA Champions League tournament. And both sides will face the game with a full squad available.

On Wednesday, Carlos Marchena returned after been out for a month and a half (quadriceps injury). The Sevillan centre-back completed the major part of the session and, despite not receiving the medical okay yet, he has big options of been available for this crucial meeting.

At the time Marchena got injured it was feared he wasn’t going to play in the rest of the season, but Sportpaper Marca presented a report of the medical technique that has allowed him to return before the expectations. It’s a laser technique known as ‘Painfree’, same one used by tennis star Rafael Nadal.  The true is that he could have forced his participation for the past liga game in Andalusia, but the coaching staff decided to wait until this week.

At the same time right-back Manuel Pablo is returning from suspension after missing the last game against Malaga CF. It was almost a miracle to see Deportivo reaching this vital game without suspensions as ten players were dragging four yellow cards since one month ago, but the point is that only six Depor’s players were booked within the past four liga matches.

Three players have been dragging physical problems, winger Javier Camuñas was a last-minute casualty for the game at La Rosaleda due to tonsillitis and he also skipped the first training of the week, but the Madrilenian player should be fine for Saturday.

Centre-back Aythami Artiles hasn’t trained on this week due to a quadriceps muscle injury, while winger Pizzi has reduced the pace due to an ankle problem that he’s dragging since some weeks ago; still, doctors expected that both men will be available for the match at the Riazor.

Manuel Pablo returns from suspension
At Real Sociedad, coach Philippe Montanier faces his last game at the club only having two injury problems: centre-midfielder Gorka Elustondo and right-back Dani Estrada (both knee sprain), both men aren’t discarded for Saturday, but it won’t affect the normal starting eleven used by the coach is recent weeks.

The main news is that Mexican striker Carlos Vela is returning after skipping the last game against Real Madrid due to a suspension, he was also facing an ankle sprain. The other two strikers at the team have been facing physical problems: Imanol Agirretxe (muscle) and Chory Castro (respiratory tract infection.

But the three strikers were training without problems during Wednesday’s session and will be available for the trip to the Riazor. Combined the trio has scored 34 goals on the league season. Finally, Centre-back Iñigo Martínez and centre midfielder Asier Illarramendi have been concentrated with Spain’s U-21 squad and will join the team on Thursday
