PERFECT MARK FOR BRUNO GAMA

31 May 2013
Bruno Gama could be the second outfield player in history of the club to make 38 appearances at the starting eleven in one single Primera season. Only four players in the current La Liga tournament have been able to play in all the games.

Saturday’s match at the Riazor is a real final as it will determine the fate of Deportivo, but there’s an individual stat that should call the attention: winger Bruno Gama could be the 15th player at Deportivo that, since the tournament is composed by 38 matchdays, is able to complete a full Primera season without missing any game.

The Portuguese has skipped the injuries and also a suspension after been carrying four yellow cards since the home game against Atlético Madrid. The previous fourteen opportunities in which a Depor’s player disputed the 38 games of a Primera season were: Djukic (91/92 & 92/93), Fran (91/92 & 92/93), Liaño (93/94), Manjarin (95/96), Amavisca (2001/02), Sergio (2001/02), Makaay (2002/03), Valerón (2004/05), Molina (2005/06), Aouate (2006/07), Coloccini (2007/08) and Filipe Luis (2008/09).

More important than this, Bruno Gama has been part of the starting eleven in the 37 games played so far, only four men had done this at Depor, and three of them are goalkeepers: Paco Liaño (1993/94), José Francisco Molina (2005/06) and Dudu Aouate (2006/07). The only outfield player that has reached this mark at the Galician club is Fabricio Coloccini, who did it on the season 2007/08.

Currently only other three players in la liga have been starters in all the 37 matchdays disputed until now. Goalkeepers Andrés Fernández (Osasuna) and Mikel Rico (Granada), plus Zaragoza’s winger Paco Montañes. Curiously, the three of them, together with Gama, perform for teams that were fighting to avoid relegation.

But perhaps the most important statistic for the game is the offensive contribution of Bruno Gama, because the winger has scored four goals plus providing three assists within the last eight liga matches, which converts him into the most in-form player at the Blanquiazul outfit.
