LUX RENEWS FOR DEPORTIVO

03 Jul 2013
Goalkeeper German Lux has signed a one-year renewal with Deportivo; despite the interest of some Primera clubs the Argentine man will stay in A Coruña, probably been the starting keeper as Aranzubia is at the door out.

It was anticipated by Radio Galega since last week, goalkeeper German Lux was negotiating a two-year renewal with Deportivo. In the end he sealed a one-year contract that will keep him in a Coruña for the Segunda campaign 2013/14.

Lux was pretended by Primera outfits Rayo Vallecano and Villarreal CF, but the Argentine goalie is feeling really comfortable in A Coruña, actually his child was recently born in the city and prefers to stay. He signed his new contract on Monday and was pending on the administration’s approval, but by Tuesday everything was sorted and the club made the official call in the afternoon.

The goalie was even presented at the Riazor an hour after the renewal was announced. During the even president Lendoiro stated that, “It’s a pleasure to have German Lux for one more year. An important player lately, though he didn’t play too often. He has been important playing and not playing. It’s one of those persons you always like to have at the club.”

“He had important offers from Spain and international football. He requested to only sign for one year. We must thank him for what he has done and will do at the club. This presentation should pave the way to other important signings that will come.” Depor’s boss stated.

Then Lux addressed the media and said that, “I am content for this decision. Surely there were other offers from Primera, but this is a hopeful project. We will try to have the best team and must ask why the coach signed for two years? Well, because he knows what he’s doing. We want to return to Primera.”

“There’s a commitment and I feel comfortable over here. The club, the coaching staff and the fans made me felt like being at home. We will try to build up a new team and then aspire to the promotion. I am the one asking to sign only for one year. It's something I always did. I'm here, because the coach believes in me. I want to correspond to his confidence." The Argentine man added.

Lux during the presentation
The ex-Mallorca goalie has spent the last two years at Deportivo, but only played 14 official matches with the first team (8 in liga and 6 in Copa Del Rey), all of this since he was the substitute of Daniel Aranzubia. Still, he always showed an acceptable performance and was considered as a ‘luxury’ replacement for a club aspiring to the permanence at Primera.

During the season that has just ended, he was the goalie that played in Copa and also played four times in liga, one of them replacing Aranzubia at half-time of the visit to Valencia CF (matchday 02) and also when the Riojano was sent off against Levante UD. In the other two games he played the full ninety minutes: 0-0 Vs. Valladolid (matchday 16) and 0-2 at RCD Espanyol (matchday 17).

This was considered as a priority signing for coach Fernando Vázquez, because is highly probable that Dani Aranzubia will leave and the Galician coach wants experience as the first alternative at the goal. According to Depor Sport there are several clubs interested in Aranzubia and he’s close to leave.
