The club confirmed on Wednesday that four players have been renewed, including Jorge Romay. At the same time it was confirmed that Diego Vela left Deportivo in order to join Racing Club de Ferrol at Segunda B.

Big news on Tuesday for the future plans of Deportivo. The club announced the renewal of four Fabril’s players that ended their contracts in June: midfielders Álvaro Queijeiro and Adrián Martinez, plus playmaker Jorge Romay and striker Álex Pérez.

Romay was one of the best players with Depor B during the past season. His renewal could mean that the Malpica-born player could end promoted to the first team ahead of next season, if not he could end loaned, because he’s already 23 and cannot alternate between the first team and Fabril according to the new rules of the Spanish Federation. Neither can be discarded to see him staying at Tercera with Depor B.

It’s something that will be decided by Fernando Vázquez during the stage in Monforte de Lemos starting on next week, because the playmaker will be picked for this stage and will have the chance to earn a spot at the first team.

Meanwhile, Adrián is a centre midfielder that during the past season was also used as a left-back defender by Fabril’s coach José Luis Devesa. He will probably stay at Fabril and, since he’s 21, will have the chance to reach the first team during the new season depending of Fernando Vázquez’s plans.

In the case of Queijeiro, he’s a centre midfielder that didn’t have opportunities on last season; he was loaned to Narón Balompé and had a great performance. The club has big hopes on him. He’s part of the generation that began at the Alevin squad and that grew up until reaching the Juvenile team. There were other five players that followed this process being team mates of Queijeiro: Uxío, Lemos, Beceiro, Vispo and Insua, this last one since Infantil B. Beceiro and Vispo already left the club, but the others have the chance to reach the first team.

In the case of Álex Pérez, the central attacker was the substitute of Luis Fernandez during the past season and neither had a good year during the season 2011/12, but the club has high hopes on him. He’s 21 and made a great season two years ago scoring 21 goals in 26 matches playing for Juvenil A.

The player that’s leaving is Diego Vela. He landed at Deportivo in 2008 and performed as a right winger, though during the past campaign Devesa replaced him as a right-back defender. The club offered a new contract to him, but he decided to leave and has joined Racing de Ferrol, club that will play at Segunda B during the new season. Vela was the captain of Depor B and leaves after making 115 appearances with the B team, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists.

Vela talked to Cadena Ser and explained why he decided to leave, ”Perhaps it wasn’t the best moment to find a spot at the first team, so the best thing was to leave and play at Segunda B. There were contacts in order to renew and go out loaned, but I thought the best was to leave. The option of Racing was the best for me and I’m grateful to Depor. If we would have clinched the promotion then the situation would be different due to my age. My cycle at Tercera was over. Still, the doors will always be open to me at Depor.”
