IAGO BECEIRO RETURNS

20 Jul 2013
The club informed on Thursday that Iago Beceiro returns to Deportivo B after a failed attempt in Ukraine; the 20-year-old striker will begin to train on Monday with Fabril.

Striker Iago Beceiro returns after a season of disappointments at Ukrainian club FC Karpaty Lviv. Last summer he was released as the player told to reporters that he wanted new challenges, still Depor had a buyout option for the next two years, though it wasn’t necessary to use the clause in order to allow his return as the player was released early this year to end up at Verín CF (Primera Autonomica).

The club informed that Beceiro is part of the list of Fabril’s picked players that will begin to train on Monday under the command of José Luis Devesa. Precisely the trainer of Depor B had differences with the striker during last season and his indiscipline was among the reasons why he left.

The now 20-year-old attacker is part of the successful third generation of Alevines that have reached the top at the club in recent months. Beceiro has been at the club since 2005 and was the first player that debuted in an official game with the first team after been at the club since Alevines (on January 19, 2011, Lotina allowed his debut in a Copa match against UD Almeria).

Beceiro is one of the five players of the third generation of Alevines that remains at the club and that are now knocking at the door of the first team; the other four are centre-backs Pablo Insua, Uxío Marcos, right winger Álvaro Lemos, plus centre midfielder Álvaro Queijeiro. Besides there’s the case of playmaker Juan Carlos, who’s older than them and who’s the only member of the first Alevines squad that remains at Deportivo (2003).

There were huge expectations on the A Coruña-born attacker; he impressed with his performance at the Juvenil A squad during the season 2010/11, ending the campaign with 13 goals in favour and 4 assists in 25 appearances at Liga División de Honor; he even had time to play four times with Deportivo B at Segunda División B scoring one goal.

But the expectations ended in nothing; the indiscipline of the player –he was caught many times smoking and drinking- caused problems with former coach Tito Ramallo. For the campaign 2011/12 he was promoted in a permanent basis to Fabril, but he only managed to make 24 appearances at Tercera scoring four goals plus providing five assists. Now the club expects he can regain part of his past form.
