The club confirmed that Real Madrid will take part of the Teresa Herrera 2013; Los Blancos are a normal participant of the tournament, but the unusual thing is that it will be played out of the normal dates, with the leagues already on course.

There were two surprises on Sunday, the first was to see president Augusto César Lendoiro traveling to Ares in order to take part of the final reunion of the Peñas Federation. The club informed on Saturday that it was going to be Pachi Dopico (Lendoiro’s advisor) the one that was going to represent the club in the event. Perhaps the reason was that there were rumours that an opposition against the president was going to be presented in that meeting.

A second surprise on the day was to see Lendoiro announcing that Real Madrid CF are going to be the rival for the 68th edition of the Teresa Herrera tournament. Depor’s boss also announced that the Madrilenian club normally charges €1 million for playing a friendly match, but that on this opportunity they are doing it for free.

The unusual thing is that the tournament won’t be played early on August, which is the normal thing. Instead it will be disputed on Thursday August 29, just in the middle of two matchdays at Primera and Segunda División. The president didn’t explain the reason, but probably it’s because Real Madrid don’t have free dates early in that month.

Real Madrid are the second club with more trophies in the Teresa Herrera (8), just behind Deportivo (17). The Madrilenians have been a normal participant of the tournament, though within the last six years they have only participated once (2007).
