SERIOUS INJURY FOR LEMOS

25 Jul 2013
Álvaro Lemos is facing six to eight months on the sidelines after tearing a ligament on his right knee during a training session. He’s one of Fernando Vázquez’s preferred youngsters in order to get the promotion to the first team.

The first bad news on the pre-season: winger Álvaro Lemos twisted his knee during Thursday’s training session; ironically he was training apart after suffering a knock in the friendly game against UD Barbadás. In the beginning the doctors thought it was something without importance, but ordered scans and the outcome was the worst possible one: A tear in a ligament on his right knee.

The doctors decided that the best thing is a surgery (he will be operated on Friday), which means that the player will be out of action between six or eight months, it also  means that the winger will at least miss the first half of the season 2013/14. Coach Fernando Vázquez stated that he expects the player will return to train in January of 2014.

It’s a hard hit for a B player that was among the favourites in order to get a spot at the first team. Currently there are eleven players of Fabril working with the first team and Lemos was one of the favourites of Fernando Vázquez; actually the coach already stated that the club will try to sign an extra reinforcement in order to cover this casualty, at least it’s what he told to Radio Cadena SER,

Álvaro Lemos was surely one of the best players during the past Tercera season with Deportivo B; He exploded in the second round thanks to his skills, velocity and a proper understanding with Luis; actually this A Coruña-born player was the only one with double digit-marks at the team (13 goals and 17 assists).

THE CASE WITH RUDY
New signing Rudy is also dealing with a delicate problem: a dislocated toe. He suffered the injury when he was training on the bench before signing for Deportivo. It is the reason why he spent two days undergoing medicals test before joining the club.

The Portuguese could need a surgery, but the doctors want to see first if he can train and play wearing a special protection. A surgery could extend his absence to a couple of months, so the doctors are making tests on the pitch in order to have him ready as soon as possible. For the moment the player isn’t training with the rest of the squad.
