Deportivo returned to Abegondo in order to complete the last part of the pre-season before the debut at Segunda División. There are two more friendly matches in the schedule, while Fernando Vázquez is waiting for more signings.

The third and last stage of the pre-season began on Monday for Deportivo. The first team completed three training sessions at Abegondo during this week. The dramatic situation with their unpaid wages meant that the players that were already professional on last season skipped the friendly game against FC Aoruca, so only the players from Fabril took part of that encounter.

For the next two weeks the team will be training at home until the debut in liga against UD Las Palmas; for now there are two more friendly games on the schedule, the next one is against another Portuguese club from the Liga ZON Sagres: Rio Ave CF. The other one is against an historic club at Segunda División B: Real Oviedo.

There’s room for an additional game one week before the debut in liga and the most probable thing is that Deportivo would try to play against a Primera outfit at the Riazor, this since the Teresa Herrera 2013 was moved until the end of August. It will also depend on the state of the grass at the Riazor, which has been under treatment since the past month.

But that game could end up being a triangular match for the benefit of the victims in the train derailment occurred last week in Santiago. Tercera outfit SD Compostela is trying to organize the tournament that will include the participation of RC Celta.

Besides the financial problems, coach Fernando Vázquez has faced two obstacles during the whole pre-season: the lack of signings and the injuries. So far the Galician tactician has only welcomed the renewals of Lux and Kaká, plus the arrival of Rudy.

El Profesor was expecting to count with two new central strikers for the stage in Monforte de Lemos, and it turns out that he’s empty-handed for the final stretch of the pre-season. For the moment it is rumoured that the club could make four new signings during the weekend, one of the names mentioned as possible reinforcements is Alex Geijo.

Also the fact that some of the players were expected to leave before reaching this third stage on the pre-season: Dani Aranzubia, Paulo Assunçăo and Ze Castro. The trio was expected to leave as their wages are unaffordable, but they still training and even taking part of the friendly games.

The injuries also affected the preparation of the team, mainly during the second stage in Monforte. Vázquez already lost for the next six months right winger Álvaro Lemos (knee ligaments), one of the Fabril’s players that was going to be promoted.

Other eight players skipped at least one friendly game due to injury cases: centre-backs Stefan Deák (hip), Pablo Insua (jumper’s knee) and Aythami Artiles (psoas), plus left-back Ayoze Diaz (hamstring), centre midfielder Álex Bergantińos (Achilles), goalkeeper German Lux (hamstring) and attackers Rudy (toe luxation) and Luis (muscular problem). Of this list only Ayoze, Aythami , Deák and Álex are already back in training.

The remaining friendly games for Deportivo:
03/Aug/2013 Rio Ave FC Vs. Deportivo
06/Aug/2013: Real Oviedo Vs. Deportivo.
