Many doubts in the possible lineup ahead of the debut at Segunda División. Fernando Vázquez hasn’t defined yet the team that will travel to Las Palmas; therefore there are several doubts on the system that he’ll use in the first game of the season.

It’s normal to have doubts in the lineup that will debut in a league competition, because any coach still has to settle his new ideas and feelings after a pre-season stage, but in the special case of Deportivo the uncertainty is bigger, because the team is half done, with pending signings and exits that leaves coach Fernando Vázquez in a difficult position. Besides, during the pre-season he never had a fixed lineup; and it’s that he always changed the full squad in the second halves of the nine pre-season matches.

It is even unclear the system that will be used in the debuting game against UD Las Palmas, during an interview with Canarian newspaper La Provincia Vázquez admitted the possibility of playing with three centre-backs.

”I honestly don’t know what I'll do. You have to adapt to the players of the moment. I used the system with three centre-backs before, because I had seven of them and four full-backs. I didn’t have wingers and only three or four attackers. Now I have a little more room at the moment of choosing. Will I play like that again? It is a possibility.” He said

The final list of eighteen picked players that will be released today should give the final clues of the lineup for the match. For now the only thing for sure is that German Lux will be the starting goalkeeper with Fabril’s David Gómez making his first appearance in a list. The 19-year-old goalie will be the second keeper.

Despite the previous words of the coach it’s unlikely he will use a 5-2-2-1 draw, it’s more probable the typical 4-2-3-1 system. There are some positions where it isn’t hard to predict what the coach will do. At the centre of the defense, Kaká and Pablo Insua have big options of playing, because Aythami is suspended and also because Ze Castro is at the door out, actually he wasn’t inscribed at the LFP for the first match. Neither Stefan Deák was inscribed.

The right-back position is between Laure and Manuel Pablo, while Ayoze Díaz has big options of playing on the left. Assunçăo is at the door out, and with Wilk only joining the team on this week, the most probable thing is to see Álex Bergantińos and Juan Dominguez playing at midfield.

The biggest doubts are in attack; Bruno Gama should be playing at the right wing, but the rest of positions are uncertain. Juan Culio seems destined to be a fixed starter either at the left or on the playmaking function, but the Argentine already admitted that he isn’t totally fit yet, which open a chance for Juan Carlos, Arizmendi and even for 17-year-old Bicho.

Luis Fernández is having big chances of been the starting attacker, this since the wished “chief striker” hasn’t arrived yet. Rudy is fit to play and will be probably be picked for the encounter, but he didn’t participate in the pre-season matches, so it’s unlucky he will be a starter.
